The Ides of March (March 15th) has often been the day of dread throughout history. It was, after all, the downfall of Julius Ceasar, who was warned to beware the day.

I thought it would be neat to exchange some good luck on the day that is supposed to bring dread and darkness!

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,

Everyone will have 3 partners. You will send each partner one good luck charm from your country, state or family--for instance, my family considers pennies that are found face up to be lucky! When we find one, we pick it up and say this poem: "Find a penny, pick it up all day long, you'll have good luck! Put the penny in your shoe, and good luck will come to you!" Then we put the penny in our shoe.

When you send your partners their good luck charm, be sure to write up a little note explaining the significance of the charm.

ONE VERY IMPORTANT REQUEST: DO NOT SEND ANIMAL PARTS--LIKE, RABBITS FEET. I KNOW THAT SOME CONSIDER THEM LUCKILY, BUT I HAVE PERSONAL ISSUES WITH THEM. THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING.

Some examples of lucky charms that I know people use: Buckeyes (type of nut) Horseshoes 4 leaf clovers Fortune cookie fortunes Quartz crystals Fools gold nuggets (aka pyrite)

I set the mail by date for March 5th so that hopefully we can all enjoy our lucky charms by the Ides of March (March 15th)!

feel free to email me directly with any questions. :)

This sounds like a VERY fun swap!

I do ask that my partners not send me swastika's. Although, I know they have been a symbol of fortune and luck for many religions and cultures for thousands of years, recent Western history has, unfortunately, taken any of that meaning for me. As a Jew, I would find it extremely horrific to receive this as a token of luck.

Thank you for your understanding!

stacirose, that's a very good point! If we can, let's try to stick to things that the general public wouldn't be offended by. However, if you want send me a pentacle, that is okay as it is a religious symbol to me, but keep in mind that others may not see it that way. I suggest that we read each others' profiles to see how our lucky charms might be received. blessings, Gypsy

Hi! I just wanted to let my swap partners know that although i am Christian, i'm open to any kinds of lucky charms and will not be offended with any that you choose to send me. So no worries! Thanks and have fun all!
