Description:

The theme for this installment of our chunky page series is LOVE. Hearts, Valentine's Day, romance - however you want to spin it - interpretation of the theme is sender's choice. Your artwork does need to be in keeping with the group's cut+paste collage / mixed media style.

About chunky pages & books...

Chunky pages are handmade art book pages constructed on a sturdy base and embellished with 3-D, chunky elements. Layered papers, chipboard elements, textural mediums, beads, buttons, charms, fibers and metal hardware are all examples of things that can be used to embellish chunky pages. Books are often a collaborative project, with artists swapping pages designed along a particular theme. The binding of the book is left up to the recipient, once the desired amount of pages have been collected.

Swap Details:

  • Page size is 4½" wide x 4" tall, with the extra ½" on the left unadorned to allow for binding.

  • Your page needs to be constructed out of sturdy materials, such as recycled cardboard, mat board, chipboard, etc. The pages need to be able to stand on their own in order to support the embellishments & materials you use in your artwork.

  • Minimum requirement for decor on the back of the page is patterned paper (book pages, additional collage, etc.), but you may do more if you wish. Include your name/screen name plus any other details you wish to add on the back as well.

The plan is to have a chunky page swap a month, for a total of 12 pages come the end of the year. Feel free to join in whenever you wish! Any questions, just ask.

Themes: Light (January), Love (February), Luck (March), Wings (April), Music (May), Nature (June), Peace (July), Inner Child (August), Travel (September), Open Theme (October), Home (November), Time (December).
