TPD Paper Napkin Transfer Sheets

WOW this is the coolest thing I've ever seen!!!

In her thread, @northqueen reports she has tried it and offers some tips:

• I tried napkins and gift tissue paper and both work great, but I tweaked the process just a little. My iron is old and I guess that is why I cranked it up slightly higher than medium.
• I also used the white unusable ply of napkin as the top buffer sheet so that no plastic got on the iron, and it works great and faster than a thicker pc. of paper.
• Lastly, when I thought I was all done and trimmed the piece up, I set it down with no buffer paper on top and pressed it again briefly, just to be on the safe side.

Plus @rejoicing added some ideas for napkin sources:

• Your town's fancy grocery store (like Wegman's) in the entertaining/kitchen supply section
• Party Supply
• Bed, Bath & Beyond
• IKEA
• Tuesday Morning & other discount stores like TJ Maxx
• Dollar stores
• Big department stores

In Canada, the Loblaws Superstores and Great Canadian Superstores also have nice napkin selections, as does Claire de Lune (candle shop), Stokes (kitchen supplies), etc.

A public swap has been set up by @SherriB HERE, but it is only for swapping napkins, not for making the sheets first. But if you want to trade napkins to get some variety, it would do the trick. (Swap is USA only)

I momentarily thought about trading some napkins in TPD, but then we would all probably end up getting the same sheets back. lol

I use the large white labels or white contact paper ( anything really) instead of the plastic, Quicker & just as effective. Plus you can recycle printed labels. I use the sheet that I get in the mail with solicitations that provide addy labels. The section you tear off to send back with a donation is sticky back & I use those for backing & the print does not show through.The back of all contact paper prints is white so any print would work for this purpose, but I'd guess the lighter prints work best. If anyone wants samples please feel free to PM me.

Another neat technique to try, especially when you can recycle materials at the same time. I'll have to try it. Thx for the info!

P.S. I am spending a fortune right now buying every pretty package of napkins I can find. lol

In our town there is a hardware store that is jokingly called "Housewife Hardware" because they have a huge selection of kitchen stuff - that's the best place I've found for fancy napkins! They're not cheap, though.

Another idea for using up all those pretty napkins - making ornaments using candy moulds.

The example above is not that pretty because she used brown recycled paper napkins from a fast food place - but they would be really pretty in a colourful paper.

Use napkins to make wallflowers.

I just tried layering two different napkin patterns. I'm pleased with the way it turned out! The bottom napkin, which I adhered to the cardstock, was a simple basketweave pattern. The top napkin (adhered to the completed bottom) had a small fruit pattern with a lot of white space between the repeat. It gave both napkins a totally different look, so now I have three coordinating pieces to use for one project. :-)

Great video. I have done napkin transfers every way you can imagine and I love using Saran wrap! (Although I will be trying the sticky labels that come in contribution envelopes).

A couple of tricks I have discovered: I use old magazines or old phone books instead of a clean sketch pad. Just as good and it is recycling.

When working with Saran wrap I use a fairly hot iron, go over it 15-20 seconds, let it cool at least that long, trim it, and then I always re-iron it! That is the only way I have found to get all four corners to stick down permanently.
