Description:

This idea comes from a sketchbook assignment that @bug gives to her students and the results are always so great that I thought it would be awesome to do it in the group. The concept is pretty simple, fill the page with a variety of interesecting, overlapping, zig zagging, etc arrows. The page should be about 8 1/2" x 11" and should be sent inside a page protector and in a large flat envelope to avoid folding it. You may choose whether or not you would like to add color or stay to black and white, but please remember that the page should be almost completely filled, although artistic use of negative space is always acceptable.

If you are a zentangler you should consider joining this swap, even if you aren't collecting tip ins, because it's a very fun project to do and is very similar to zentangling :)

I should add that medium is senders choice. Feel free to paint, draw, collage, print, stamp, or anything else as long as you send a lovley piece of art :)

could you please explain what "Tip In" means.. I'm pretty sure I understand the directions given.. just unclear about the words tip in.. Thanks.

@snowqueen1426

A "tip in" is a page that is usually glued in an existing book/journal. So there should typically be at least a 1/2 margin on the left side that is left free of heavy embellishment or detial cause that side will be used to glue in. Hope that helped ^_^

Thank you so much.. :)

i did not leave a 1/2 inch but my designe will not be hurt by losing that much.( i dont think anyway.) isn't it the back of the page that gets glued down anyway?

samjowers 05/16/2012 #

btw, this will become a prompt for my students next year! thanks for the great idea! send more!

Although tip ins usually have a 1/2" border, in this case it isn't necessary because we're mailing them in page protectors so that they can all be kept together in a binder :) Basically you are creating a giant ATC, a piece of art the size of one page.

love this idea and going to steal it for my students but switch it back to ATC size. We will be doing a principle and elements of art series in 3rd grade next year. Needed a new line assignment. Thank you to both of you:)
