Description:

While people loved the first European whimsy swap I thought I'd do a second one :) But this time it will be themed - PINK & BROWN!

I absolutely LOVE whimsy jars, but the swaps are always USA/Canada based, so I thought I would give everyone in Europe the chance to do a whimsy jar swap! :)

The theme for this jar is Pink & Brown, so it is still random items but they MUST be pink and/or brown.

Rules: * Must have 4.95 rating or higher

  • Must have completed at least 10 Type 3 Swaps
  • No unexplained 1s or 3s and no 1s or 3s in the past month
  • No newbies sorry

You will have 1 partner and you will send them 1 filled whimsy jar. You MUST decorate the lid of the jar pink & brown, but it is up to you if you decorate the jar/glass part. You must totally fill the jar full with random items. Please don't fill it with just the same thing (eg just buttons)

Ideas of things to include: * Buttons

  • Trinkets

  • Stickers

  • Embellishments

  • Beads

  • Ribbons

  • Findings

  • Small individually wrapped candy

  • Crafty items

  • Rubber stamps

  • Small inkpads

  • Brads

  • Decotape

And anything else small and whimsical you can think of! :)

You can find jars to buy in places like Hobbycraft, Tesco, Wilkinsons, cooking/kitchen shops, thiftstores/poundshops, markets etc. Or you can reuse an old jam jar, but it must be clean!

If you are unsure of what whimsy jars are just take a look on Flickr

You will have 2 weeks to put your jar together (and decorate the lid!) after the sign up deadline. Jars aren't profile based, but it would be nice to check your partners profile to see what they like and dislike. Happy swapping! :)

I have almost finished mine. I just need to add a few profile surprises when partners are assigned. I am really excited – I hope I have done it right.

Hi, is there a minimum size the jar has to be? Was also wondering what is the best way to send them? Would bubble wrap/then parcel paper be suffice or do you normally send them in a box? Sorry for all the questions, I havent sent anything in the post this large or made a whimsy jar before, and i just want to get it right, thankyou x

I forgot to add - does the jar have to be a glass jar - or can it be a nice plastic one to keep the weight down, thanks in advance :)

EbonyMoon 07/ 8/2012 #

Hi izibella! The last whimsy jar swap I hosted we agreed on a jar with the capacity of around 0.5 litre/900 grams, which should be a good enough size and not too big or heavy to mail :)

It does need to be glass, but if you are worried about costs then you could use an empty jam jar you might already have so that you don't have to spent money on buying a new one? (just make sure it's clean of course :) )

How I normally send my whimsy jars is I wrap them in bubble wrap and put them in a box. But other swappers might have successful ways of posting them another way, feel free to comment anyone! :)

Hope this helps :)
