Description:

I love zentangles, and I love ATCs, so this is a swap for all different types of zentangles on ATCs! For more information about zentangles click here

You will be making 4 ATCs for one partner. Each ATC will be a different 'type' of zentangle, as detailed below:

  1. The 'Traditional' zentangle: Black ink on white card. Simple.

  2. The colourful zentangle: you can use whatever colours you want for this one, different background, different coloured pen, anything goes! You can use as many colours as you like!

  3. Shaped Zentangle: you will draw a simple outline of a shape and then zentangle inside of it. For example, this is a heart shaped one I made as a valentines card for my boyfriend!! Again, it can be any colour you like!

  4. A zentangle string: this is just the squiggly line you draw to doodle inside of. Here is an example for you to see. The string should be in pencil and can be on any colour of background. This one will be fun because everyone draws their string differently, so by zentangling in someone else's string, you could get a totally different result!!

Normal rules for ATCs apply, 2.5 x 3.5"

Anyone with a rating over 4.85 and at least 10 rated swaps (email swaps not included) is free to join, although I reserve the right to ban anyone I do not wish to have in my swap.

Newbies must message me before joining the swap and give me a link to another swap site (etsy, ebay etc.) so that I can see you will be reliable. You must also have a filled out profile, and some proof that you have experience in making ATCs (a flickr album, for example)

This swap is INTERNATIONAL!

Feel free to message me with any questions!

How to draw a zentangle
1. Draw a string (you can see the example above)
2. fill in the sections with 'controlled doodles', which tend to be repeated patterns.

You can see many examples of zentangles here

Have fun!

i have never done this before, but i have read the links and seen the pictures and it has inspired me to sign up! thank you for introducing me to a (for me) new form of art! it looks amazingly fun!!

This is new to me also. But I love doing new things. Thanks for inviting me to join the swap Mojo.

I've put this in possibles and I'll have a go at all the types and then probably sign up for this one. It looks like great fun

I hope it's okay that I make my zentangles bigger than 2.5 x 3.5....That seems really small to me but maybe I'm just crazy. I usually put mine on 4x6" pieces of recipe card paper...

Mojo 03/14/2008 #

MoonMagik, I'm afraid the zentangles for this swap have to be 2.5" x 3.5" as it is an ATC swap and that is the size of ATCs!

Thanks for inviting me. I'll give it a try. This type of swap challenges my imagination because I'm so literal - it will be a good creative experience for me!

I've been doodling like a nutter. My dream diary is filled with strings, heart zentangles, star zentangles, possible fill patterns but no dreams lol. I'm finding the zentangles great when insomnia strikes

Mojo 03/18/2008 #

I always draw zentangles when I can't sleep too, stitchinwitch. And when I get bored in lessons. Hehe. They're so relaxing!!

Susi 03/21/2008 #

I have been trying to open the link for days, and it won't open for me. I've heard about zentangles, but have not a clue as to what they are! Could someone PM me with an explanation, as I might forget to check back on the swap? thanks!

Mojo 03/25/2008 #

Susi, I have messaged you, and edited the link so that it should now work!!

mcall 03/25/2008 #

This is fantastic! I just didn't know it had a name.

CraftyDez 03/26/2008 #

Sorry guys. I'm going to have to drop from this swap. I've not been able to do a decent zentangle and the deadline is fast approaching. I'll keep a lookout for any upcoming swaps. Dez

Crafty I'm sure your Zentangles look great. Mine aren't super arty (I'm not great at drawing) but OH likes.

Mojo 03/30/2008 #

try not to compare your zentangles to the examples, everyone can develop their own styles. Crafry, I'm sure yours look fabulous!

I remember drawing these things on my pants in Jr. High. And my shoes, too.

I forgot to hit the "sent" button at the weekend sorry - although I think I just missed the weekend collection so it's probably languishing in a post box still anyway :/

Rogue 04/23/2008 #

Eeep! I missed the send by date! I thought it was the 23! I haven't receieved mine yet, either..
