Description:

I love to re-use items that are normally considered trash and turn it into art.

For this Swap you are to make an ATC card 2.5 x 3.5 and use a mesh bag in your art somehow. The bag must remain on the card, you can not ONLY paint on the card with a mess bag, although painting with the mesh bag is allowed.

Where do I get a mess bag? Mainly fruits and Vegetable bags like onions, oranges, limes, Lemons.

Cards must be 2.5 x 3.5, with a sturdy backing. Work is senders choice. So you can start right away.

Does anyone really sticker slap anymore? What does that meam? Please understand it goes beyond slapping a sticker. You can slap other things. Please dont just glue/slap a few things on a card. For that reason, each card needs 2 techniques: stamping, distressing edges, collage, fiber, embellishments, words, paint, glue, images, punches, brads, hand drawing, etc.

Put at least your name, on the back esp if you want to get rated properly. Keep in mind if you have your full name and address on the back, then cards that get mess up at the PO have been know to be mailed by the PO back to the sender. It takes a lifetime, but I have heard of it happening. This is your art take precautions.

Please put the extra 20 cents of postage on the envelope if you make your cards bulky. It is worth the extra 20 cents to prevent damage. This is your art Take precautions.

I suggest you put each card in a waterproof sleeve, and tape them to a note card to prevent dancing around during mailing and again damage or gasp they rip open and get lost. This is your art take precautions.

I will angel any cards. Once you have made two attempts to contact sender and have rated them a 1.

Keep in mind: You flake, then you bake!!!

Future swaps will be Plastic bread closures or ties. Bottle caps, Napkins. wrapping paper

Ok I just thought of another great Trash idea when opening my mail. I got a fake cardboard credit card. So whatever those are called start saving those things up for a future swap. card board or plastic will work. Mine was from Disney, but I get them from insurance companies, and Kohls dept store.

Is this 1 card to 1 partner? or 2 to 1 more like the USA swap?

International is one to one.

AZmom875 12/12/2012 #

I also realize that on this international swap, I really have no idea if your countries postal system has the Non Machineable rate or what its cost is. I do apologize for my ignorance on that.
Feel free to comment here on what your country charges if your envelope is chunky or over a certain weight. I like to know these things.

In Australia, the "machineable" rate is only for bulk postage i.e. business' sending out 100s of letters... for us international postage is either letters or parcels.. and most if not all of the bulky ATC get through as "letters"... unless you add extras :)

Thanks for explaining that Catsand butterflys

Yup, I get those envelopes with cardboard/plastic credit cards in them. But, also look at the inside of the envelope. Some have beautiful designs that make great backgrounds. Even the windows on the envelopes make fun ATC's.

AZmom875 12/25/2012 #

I would like to see what you can do with the windows Arsty tiger. I save those security envelopes, and punch out flowers and fish and stuff. We will have a security envelope trash to treasure swap soon.
Oh I even have a security envelope for AU that has the AU map inside. I thought that was kinda special.

This week I punch a hole in a white plastic bread closure thingy. They used to be called Bread ties, but they dont really tie right? Any way, put a brad through the hole. covered it with gold ink. attached it to an atc card, and in the loop. I tied a mess bag. I should have scanned and saved an image of the card.. It was for the F is for Christian swap. My card was F is for Fish, for the story of the loaves and fish. So I used the mesh bag, and got an idea for those bread ties.

I am surprised that the international has more players maybe because it has less cards to make.

Great...as it is one of my first swap...I'll do my best with all my heart, so just be kind..and no problem if you're honest to tell me how I can do it better?!!! P.S : remember that from my country it can take more then 10 days...to yours!

Here in Oz, any envelope that is 'standard size' and not TOO bulky, has the one international cost. To America and most of the world it is $2.35, Asia a bit cheaper. Naked postcards are $1.60. I have managed to put a 3D handmade greeting card in an envelope with a few papers and a flat (but still sorta heavy) magnet and they didn't charge me extra. I always get them to weigh it and check it first, just in case my partner gets a bill at the other end. I would be mortified if that ever happened!

maxette 01/12/2013 #

mine is done...just waiting to be sent!

maxette 01/17/2013 #

it is posted, but it can take more then 10 days...here we have about 30cm of fresh snow, and we are not used to that, so everything slows down...

maxette 02/ 5/2013 #

Bouh! I still have nothing...???

maxette 02/ 7/2013 #
