Okay! It's that time of year. What to do with those 2012 calendars? Turn them into art. For this swap, make a handmade postcard using things from a calendar without making it too obvious that you used a calendar. This is the cut and paste group so this is collage and should incorporate significant use of cutting and pasting. However, painting and drawing and whatever else you do is also allowed. Be creative. Incorporate the dates and numbers from a calendar but not in a super obvious way. Take the white date parts and paint them, zentangle on them and then incorporate them into your collage. Cut up bits, use parts as background, do die cuts with calendar pieces, etc. These are suggestions but use at least 3-5 or more glued down elements. This is sender's choice so you can begin now. These are meant to be mailed naked but if you are concerned, feel free to put it in an envelope and let your partner know. A lady I work with always has one of those cat a day calendars which I find great fodder for collage. The image above is one such piece of mine from 2010. I have to laugh, I did a search at flickr to find a good image to represent what I am thinking for this swap, and the results had tons of images from dumpsterdiversanonymous'. So, if you need additional inspiration, check out her stuff. |
