Junk Mail ATCs

Can we not use any other embellsihments besides junk mail? (can we use brads, paper clips or rubber stamps if it is kept to a minimum with the junk mail being the focal point of the ATC? TIA Theresa

Try to limit your embellishments that aren't from you junk mail. I understand that sometimes a card just screams for something extra, so go for it. But try to keep it to a minimum.

GREAT theme - I am a sucker for saving flyers, mailcards, statement inserts etc with cool design elements or colors so I am lovin a chance to use them! ~ gem ~

You know, I've been 'magazine collaging' for a while now, but never thought to use my junk mail!!! How awesome (and the right price!) Two questions: 1. What are the copywright restrictions (i.e., can logos and trademarks be incorporated?) 2. What if I got flyers from a print show (basically 'junk mail' without the envelope and postage, but GREAT design)?

Copyright should not be a problem since we are trading and not using the images for profit. I define "junk mail" as the stuff that I did not subscribe, that appears in my mail box. I plan on only uses those pieces. But since the ATC junk mail police are going to show up on your door step, the call is yours. Hope I get to see your cards.

Thank you for hosting this. I use junk mail when making my ATCs all the time. (One tip: the insides of the security envelopes.)

Oh yes! I have used them to make paper patchwork quilts in altered books. But I haven't done anything with them for ATCs. I must try that one. Thanks for the tip!

So glad you join us. The dimensions are actually in the description of the swap."Artist trading cards are 2-1/2 x 3-1/2 inches, and should be flat enough to slide into a standard trading card sleeve." They are the same size as the standard baseball trading cards. Hope I get to see the ones you make.

Loved this swap. I made mine early. They are going out today. I also used a lot of the junk mail in other ATC projects and in other art projects. Once I really began scrutinizing the junk mail I saw lots of possibilities. Thank you very much for hosting this swap.

Sassenach and Pootle - I sent your ATCs a couple of days ago. I found this very difficult - none of my junk mail really "spoke" to me. Anyway they're done and on their way - hopefully the envelopes will make up for the ATCs.

My ATC's have been sent out to Sparrow and Monica on Wed 3rd January. Have also received all four of my swaps back already, thanks.

Hi Jean, I don't seem to know what day it is, thay in fact arrived the day before yesterday - Wednesday.

Mailed mine today (1/12) - so be on the lookout, Charlyn in MS and Janet in MA! Besides plain cardstock blanks, I used only bulkmail book club catalogs to make my ATCs (I got literally 5 of them in one day!) loved your take on the credit cards! we also get buried with them i have been saving some up again, i have used a couple in the past for cards. you are right it's fun to cut them up, my husband wishes i' do that to the real ones too!

This swap was fun for me. I am sorry someone with a very low rating of 2.75 snuck in after I checked the ratings on January 15th. And of course this person has NOT SENT. I have not received one of my ATCs also so I know how disappointed some of you are. But the ones I did get were wonderful!

I would like to remind those who did not send, you will NEVER be allowed into a swap I host. It is no fun not to receive your expected ATCs.

Lucky me...I'm the one who the person below 2.75 was supposed to send to. I have contacted her and we'll see if I hear back...oh well.

I should say I'm one of the ones...since someone else was obviously also supposed to receive from her too.
