Description:

This is a simple swap - get your drawing supplies ready, set a timer and DRAW! Continuously for 30 minutes without breaks. You can choose to spend it all on one drawing or do a series of quick sketches, but I recommend hiding the eraser - there's not much time for self-critique here.

The point here is to get an extra motivation to grab the pen and do something. I hope that participants find that 30 minutes is too short of a time for such fun activity and end up doing it for the rest of the night. So the emphasis is on making, not receiving here, though it doubtlessly is fun seeing what other have come up with.

Any equipment you feel like using is fine, and you can draw on recycled paper or both side of the sheet if you wish.

Theme of this time is FACES.

A nice way to practice drawing faces is draw from live model or reference photos. You can ask your family members or friends to sit for you, or take a mirror and draw yourself. Take a stack of magazines or a portrait book from the library. You can try to capture a certain expression or do a portrait, study different nose shapes, do caricatures, or a piece of your imaginary ideal husband. Or if you like to draw from imagination, or have your own characters, or people who visit you in dreams, do that - just spend some effort and draw faces, not smileys.

Everybody is welcomed to join, from every skill level! Whether you're a professional or this is your first time drawing. Any way you'll likely be a bit better at it after doing the swap. : ) Take this into account when rating - you receive a drawing or multiple, sent on time, you rate 5. We all have different skill levels, styles and speeds of working and may choose to make miniature things or huge things or anything in between.

I will check the participants and reserve the right to ban any swapper who has recently received any 3's or 1's.

Newbies and unrated swappers with a well filled profile can join! It's not a profile-based swap but filling your profile communicates that you're committed to swapping and have taken some time to understand how things work here.

I will angel this swap if needed. I will also haunt the flakers to their grave. Grrr!

So, enjoy drawing and have fun!

You have this an a type 1 swap. Are we emailing a picture of our drawing or are we actually sending it in the mail?

Lady 06/ 9/2013 #

assume it's really a type #3 - round 1 of this swap is/was.

Anaryawe 06/10/2013 #

Ooops, sorry! Yes, it's a type 3 swap. Thanks for noticing, I'm such a scatterbrain sometimes. Fixed it!

MichelleWillow 06/23/2013 #

What will be the next theme? Will you set up the swap soon? :)

Anaryawe 06/25/2013 #

Thanks for joining everyone! Michelle, I've been busy fighting the bushes at the dacha but the next round will be up shortly. : )

I hear you moonlightlaura for the cost of international swaps! I can just say that it is twice the price to send from Finland to US as it is from US to Finland. : ) I made these swaps because I want to participate in swap-bot but I'm living on government benefits (= dirt poor,) and I figure that drawings are pretty much the nicest flat mail you can send or receive.

A drawing envelope is now en route to my partner in Israel coming from the U.S. Enjoy!
