Description:

Thank you for joining the Living In A Tin Pocket Monster Swap and I thank abominablesarahmonster for originally coming up with this idea for a swap ! For this swap we will be sending out Cute Creepy little handmade Halloween monster (could be spirits, ghosts, ghouls, creatures, etc.) in decorated mint tin homes.

Insider Info

Everyone will make one Handmade Cute Lovable Monster (or spirit, ghost, ghoul, etc.). Monsters can be made out of anything. Think Sculpey, Felt, Cloth, anything you can think of!

Monster should be small enough to fit into the decorated tin homes we will be making for them with one or two small items.

Decorate a mint tin inside and out (for this I recommend using some spray on black primer to cover over the design of the tin, then decorate the inside and outside of the tin using paints, paper, rubber stamps and really the sky is the limit but please put your best effort into making your tin a work of art) for your little monster friend to live in. I am thinking about using Altoids tins, but any similar mint tin will do as well. Try and keep a theme going with your monster.

On the very back of the tin make a little profile for your monster including:

What type of monster it is. What your monster's name is. Where it is from or where it likes to live. its likes and dislikes.

in the tin with your monster include one or two little accessories. These can be store bought or handmade. If your monster is an under the bed monster who likes dust bunnies and teddy bears, consider placing a small teddy bear with your monster. Or if your monster is a closet monster who likes dirty socks and umbrellas think about including a little cocktail umbrella. Of if you feel like it you can do a classic Halloween monster such a a Vampire, werewolf, mummy or any of the others but please don't feel like you have to stick to a Halloween specific monster :)

For Example: If your monster is a......

Handmade Polymer clay and felt monster. Name: Marvin the Matchstick Monster Type of Monster: Fire Monster Residence: Matchstick Boxes Likes: Setting things on fire, marshmallows, campfires, sulfur, sunny days, baked goods, and of course matches!!!! Dislikes: Rainy days, waterfalls, cold salads, the ocean, and milkshakes.

Think about making your tin some sort of fire theme. Perhaps place a match and some little clay marshmallows on a stick in the tin with your monster.

The sky is the limit with these! I am going to make this swap open to International Swappers since this swap shouldn't be to expensive to send.

Please, please take the time to create something wonderful and artistic for your partner! I know that this will be a bit labor intensive, but I think it will be totally worth it.

OK, I'm scared as hell to join this swap because this is NOT in my comfort zone, but I'm going to do it anyway. =D

@wickedred Personally, I Googled Altered Halloween Altoid Tins and found a lot of cool examples. You could also try Flickr as well.

Sorry I missed this question when it was asked (I so wish that Swap bot would send a message when there is a comment to a swap I run!)

I definitely recommend goggling as kiddo47 recommended. You can use a spray primer to cover the tin or I have also heard that you can burn off the original paint on an Altoids tin although I have never tried this myself. But you should definitely put your best work into decorating it. Please do not stick a few stickers on it and call it good. The tin should be a piece of art when you are done that your partner will want to have out and show off to others. You can paint it or cover it with paper to decorate it.

Also check out U tube for some great altoid Halloween how toos
