Let's make a colorful washi tape pen & notebook for our partner. These could make fun gifts for sure! This Washi Tape Pen & Notebook Tutorial is very easy to follow. You don't have to do this same striped pattern, as long as you decorate your notebook with washi tape. You should be able to get pens and notebooks fairly inexpensively from your local Dollar Store, Target, grocery store, etc. Fun, fun - come out & play! REMEMBER: If 10 people participate in this swap, your names will be put into a drawing for 10 pieces of Washi tape! The pens are especially neat! I've seen the washi-wrapped pencils before, but I don't use pencils much, so this is a great idea. :)

Do we have to do the striped design on the notebook, or can we do something else, as long as it's with washi tape?

Yes, I first saw the pencils too, but liked the pen idea better.

As far as pattern, it can be anything as long as it's done with washi tape. (I edited the swap text.)
