Description:

This is inspired by and a slight variation of the swaps done by the fabulous @wolfeagle !

I love the Pass and Paste postcards and envelopes. They are a really fun form of mail art.

In this swap, you will send one Pass and Paste postcard or envelope to one partner. You can join in at any time by starting a Pass and Paste postcard or envelope, or by sending on one that you have received from an earlier round, or another source.

To start a Pass and Paste postcard or envelope:

  • Divide a postcard in 4 or 5 equal sections on one side. You can send any shape or size, use wavy lines or straight lines to divide the sections, etc. It's up to you. Please use a sturdy material for the base. You then label each section 1-4 or 5, etc., or A-D or E, and pick a section for you to create in. Create your mail art in one section. You can paint, collage, make a drawing, use fabric, do whatever you want to make creative mail art. On the other side, put your name and mailing address. Also make sections that match your other side, for the artist to write a hello and/or sign their name. If you completed section B on the front side...then you will write in section B on the backside.

  • Label the front of envelope with your name and mailing address. Draw, doodle, stamp, collage the beginning of a mural type project. Inside this envelope place a piece of paper with sections for each person who adds to your envelope to write a message and/or sign their name. Everyone be sure to leave a space for the stamp!

Once you have completed your section/addition, you mail the postcard or envelope, in a separate envelope, to your partner, by the send by date. In the next round, you will use the postcard or envelope you have received. You will create in one of the sections or add to the design on the envelope and then send it forward. If you like to work ahead, feel free to create on these as soon as you get them. Once you receive a postcard or envelope and you are the last person to create on it (you fill the last space on the postcard or run out of white space on the envelope), then please mail it back, naked, to the original starter (name and mailing info should be on the card already).

You can jump in and start at any point, regardless of what round it is simply by starting a Pass and Paste postcard or envelope. If you receive an unfinished Pass and Paste postcard or envelope, please always send it on, even if you decide not to participate any longer. At the very least, send it back to the original starter or send it to me and I will forward it on. That way everyone should eventually get their postcard or envelope back.

You can create in any medium that you like but please make sure you adhere any items securely as these will eventually be mailed naked.

Have fun.
