Description:

So I don’t mind it being cold outside if I am tucked up nice and warm in front of the wood burner. So the idea of this swap is to send a package to occupy someone on a cosy night in. Here’s what you need to include:-

  • a DVD (but it must be the appropriate region of your partner – unless they have specified they have a multi regional player) or a magazine or a book or puzzle or even a puzzle book.

  • something to eat – this could be cookies, biscuits, chocolate, crisps. The item should NOT be a small single item. For instance if you send chocolate it must be or amount to 100g, if you send crisps they should weigh at least 150g, biscuits and cookies 200g.

  • something to make a drink out of. Ideas include tea, coffee, hot chocolate, mulled wine mix (but obviously not the red wine) or kool aid.

  • something to keep you warm. Ideas include pyjamas, snuggie, socks, blanket, even a hot water bottle.

  • a letter to read – this could be a snail mail letter or just an explanation of why you picked the items you did. It should be at least an A4 page.

You should read your partners profile for likes and dislikes. If you are in any doubt or struggling to find something for your partner send them a message, I’m sure they won’t mind. If you have any doubt about whether your item falls into the above category send me a message.

Now postage on this one will be expensive. SO PLEASE DO NOT JOIN UNLESS YOU CAN AFFORD IT. You may want to consider sending your package surface mail (if you live in a country that does this). However I do ask that if you send it this way, you aim to do this quickly and do not leave it last minute. Nothing can be more frustrating than having to wait 2 months for a package or it arriving in summer or with items that have gone out of date. So please be conscious of this and best before dates.

Swap requirements – You must have a 5 rating, no newbies will be allowed to join and you must have completed at least 30 type 3 swaps. I will check all profiles before assigning partners.

It's so annoying that there's yet another swap I can't participate in because I've not done one yet. As a newbie to this website I'm not really happy because all of the ones that are interesting are closed to me.

Check out the forums, @bethlems ( http://www.swap-bot.com/forums/topic/5678 ) There may be some swappers there who will be willing to do some private swaps with you to get you going. Most people who host swaps have to be very careful about who they let in their swaps because they are responsible for disappointed swappers who end up being flaked on. For those of us who are more "seasoned" swappers, it seems to be happening more and more. It can get really expensive and exasperating for the host. So try the forums, hang in there, and see what you can find. Good luck!

@Bethlems – we all have to start somewhere. Trying joining some swaps that are for newbies. I had to do exactly the same when I first started. As a coordinator a newbie is too big a risk in a high value swap such as this.

Thanks @marinnda for your comment on this one – its really helpful.

@bethlems - you could also try joining the newbie helper group - they have swaps specifically for newbies so you can get your swap experience in a safe environment and get your ratings so that you are allowed in to the more indepth swaps
