A fairytale poem on a postcard

Send each of your partners a postcard, featuring a fairytale poem, written by you.

The Poem

The poem can be as short as you like (haiku?) or as long as will fit onto a postcard. Any traditional style/form/metre is fine, and experimental forms (blackout poetry, found poetry etc) are also welcome.

The poem can re-tell a full fairytale, or just one aspect of it, but your chosen fairytale should be taken from Grimm, Andersen or Perrault (please see Sur la Lune fairytale site for free online versions of the original tales). Your poem does not have to be 'true' to the original tale, but should show familiarity with it.

The Postcard

The postcard may be store-bought or handmade but should be themed to tie in with your chosen fairytale. The connection between postcard and poem may be lateral or literal – eg an ad postcard for a hair product to represent Rapunzel, or a photo of a wild wolf for the tale of Red Riding Hood. Alternatively you may use your own illustration/s, or a vintage (copyright free) illustration (see Sur la Lune site, linked above).

An alternative option is to make a postcard with the poem itself on the 'picture' side. If you choose this option, please make an effort with the presentation, eg a decorative border, original typography/lettering style, or an illustration alongside. Some experimental forms of poetry (eg blackout) are already visually interesting, so further decoration is optional in these cases.

Please send postcards written & 'naked', not within an envelope. Postcards should be 'average' postcard size - approx. 4" x 6" (min. 3.5" x 5", max 5" x 7").

Requirements

Late swaps & low ratings will all be checked before assigning partners, so please contact me if you think there might be a problem.

Make sure you include your user ID on the postcard, so that you can be rated!
