Description:

Choose a color. Sender's choice... choose anything you want. Your favorite color, your partner's favorite, or even just one that is most convenient!
Now, start scavenging. You will need to find one of EACH of the following items in your chosen color to create a sweet little color themed package for your partner.

1 Book. It can use the word in the title (The Red Tent), or the book can be mostly that color, or any other creative interpretation of the theme, as long as you explain it to your partner and it is easily discernible.
2 Postcard. Obviously the whole postcard does not need to be the color (or it can!)... again, thinking outside the box is allowed. Handmade or purchased. Unused so your partner can mail it.
3 Bookmark. (above rules apply! :)
4 Writing Utensil. Broad definition.
5 Letter to your partner. Introduce yourself! Make friends! Colored paper, colored ink, stickers all over the borders of the page in that color, write the name of the color for every other word in your letter...whatever works. Just use the color somehow.
6 Include some interesting facts about your color. (Google is our friend) a poem, a riddle, etc.
7 One or more "surprise" items in your color. .. anything you want, no boundaries here.

Package your items nicely (you could wrap them individually in white paper you scribbled the color all over, or all together in colored tissue, or in bright colored comic book pages, or tie them with a colored ribbon or yarn, or put them all inside a plastic accordion file in your chosen color... these are ideas, and are not required, but try to make it fun to receive) And finally, somehow, stick with the color theme with your shipping package... stamps on the parcel, stickers, writing, pictures, colored envie, etc.
These items may be repurposed (in good condition), handmade, or purchased
Creativity is definitely allowed, and hopefully this swap will be as fun for you to put together as it will be for your partner to receive. I reserve the right to refuse someone's request to join if your ratings since joining this group have slipped since the last time we did a review. I'm leaving a long time to get this finished, so we won't need to rush and can also spread the expense out (in case it feels costly... ) but DON'T leave it till the last minute and send a very thrown-together package, or forget about it totally.

Wow!!! I love this so much! What a great idea!

Are thrift store books ok? I know you said repurposed, I just wasn't sure if that was the same!

hollycm6 04/ 4/2014 #

Yes! As long as they aren't nasty looking used books/thrift store books/your own/even vintage. No childrens books but (older) young adult would be fine. :-)

I really want to do this swap, but I need to save money at the moment. I hope this is successful enough that you host a similar swap in the future!

Remind me!! I hope so too :-)
