Description:

Does anyone feel like getting craftea? If so, pour yourself a cup of tea, grab an ATC blank and have fun!

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

Materials:

  • sturdy ATC blank (2.5" X 3.5")

  • used tea bag

  • gel medium or glue

  • one or more rubber stamps

  • stamp pad

  • mediums for adding color (colored pencils, acrylic paints, pastels, etc.)

  • embellishments (optional)

Method:

  1. Thoroughly dry a used tea bag. I press mine with paper towels and leave them out overnight.

  2. Carefully remove any staples, tags and strings from the bag.

  3. Gently open the bag, dump out the dried tea leaves and flatten the paper. I like to iron the flattened paper to make it as smooth as possible. Save the tea leaves for later use in this project.

  4. Glue the tea-stained, flattened paper to a sturdy ATC blank. I prefer to use gel medium for this, but you are welcome to use whatever works best for you. Most tea bags are large enough to cover two ATC blanks.

  5. After the glue has dried, trim the paper along the edges of the ATC and stamp one or more images to create your composition.

  6. Color the stamped images as you like. You can also add some color to the background, but the main background must be the tea stain itself.

  7. Use some of the tea leaves you saved from the bag to embellish the ATC. In the example above, tea leaves were used at the tops of the flowers. As long as some tea leaves are utilized, you can choose to apply as much or as little as you like.

  8. Finish with other embellishments of your choosing. The example above was completed with a few drops of Stickles and an inked border. Other than the dried tea leaves, however, additional embellishments are not required.

  9. Please write the title of your ATC, your SB username and the date on the back of the piece. Also remember to include the group name and swap title either on the back of the ATC or on a separate note included in the swap.
