Need an excuse to clear out your pantry? In the United States, the annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive sponsored by USPS is on Saturday, May 10. Let's all donate!

  • Send 1 postcard to your assigned partner. Share a list of food items you are donating. Make sure to include your username and the swap name on the postcard. This is how you will be rated.
  • If you are in the US, leave your bag or box of non perishable food near your postbox on Saturday, May 10. If you live outside of the United States, deliver your food to a charity of your choice.
  • When you receive a postcard from your partner as outlined here, you will rate a 5 - obviously we can't check to see if someone actually donated, so receiving the postcard it the only rating stipulation.

  • Sender's choice, but it's always nice to read profiles!

  • Newbies welcome will a well filled out profile.
  • I'm happy to angel, but I hope I won't need to!!!

Unfortunately, our mailman will not participate in this (I asked last year) and he's a minister too.

There are no food pantries in my area either. They want you to purchase a gift certificate to the local store.

I did participate when Subway did the food drive a few weeks ago (Buy 1 - 6 inch and get 1 free with a canned good). I went in a week later and asked how they did and I was the only person to donate any food.

It's frustrating, the people in this area want and want, but don't seem to want to give.

I hope everyone has a better experience than mine!

Will your post office take the donation? Perhaps local churches could put you in touch with someone!

I live in a Bible belt city, and our mailmen are wonderful to help do this food drive. I also volunteer at a Baptist Mission where we are able to bless people with food that is donated from part of this US Postal Service . Our Ministry gets 1/3 of the donated food. Last year we were given 23,000 pounds of food, and did not have to purchase extra food for 7 months. a wonderful thing for any city!!

@institches where do you live? sounds depressing. It's hard to believe that ppl are so selfish.

@institches - my hubby is a walking mailman and this can be a tough day for him, but he always helps out! Many in his post office do not though - I know it can be so frustrating when you want to help out and feel there is not a way to do so. As someone else wrote, I would take it personally to your post office if you are able to. Thank you for having a kind spirit! Hugs ;)

Here's to hoping my mail man picks up the food!
