Okay ya'll! I am going to get my feet wet with this swap creatin' thing..! Wish me luck and join in...

So the idea is as follows, we will circle up like in a Round Robin, and each person will create a smallish envelope of goodness (collage, paint, ink, layers, quotes, found words, etc. as in mixed media, as in all your favorite techniques!) with a note inside claiming your work and describing how you went about creating it. This initial envelope will be sent to the next person who will NOT open it, but will instead put it in a new envelope just big enough to fit it in without squishing, which they will then creatively decorate and include a note as well, same as above... see where I'm heading?! Please make sure you write your name and address and the swap name on the outside of your envelopes. This will be repeated till it's gone full circle ! So I am thinking it should stay with the last person in the circle rather than going back to the original sender but I'm not sure...I'm open to suggestions, it IS nice to end up with your own work sometimes, right?! I think we will assign a sending order in the forum, and make everyone who joins swap partners for rating purposes. Or does the swap-bot do that too..? I am going to have each posting be two weeks apart, unless we get international participants. Let me know what you think, okay?! I am hoping 6 or join! If it's way more we'll divide up! Swap on!

super cool idea, Carroll!

FarStarr 10/24/2014 #

Good idea, Carroll! It will definitely need to head to the forums for sending order etc. I'll help with that wherever you need me... ;)

I like it! I'm in I was thinking, though…If the last person who receives keeps it instead of sending back to the original sender, then there will be one less artist to contribute to the creation …

(A creates and sends to B, B adds and sends to C, C keeps it)

But depending on the number of participants, maybe that doesn't matter?

bigmamabird 10/24/2014 #

Thanks Karen, and yes please (for the help) Mandy...Charles, I was thinking a big group it wouldn't matter but also it is good to have oneself represented in these group efforts as well, so I lean toward the full 360!

We would need to stop just short of sending it back to the original creator. Otherwise, you would get back your own lovely package of collage bits with your note...unopened.

What a fun idea! I'm in!

bigmamabird 10/26/2014 #

Okay, yay, looks like a good group coming together! So, just to be clear here, the collage bits are for the outsides of the envelopes, the insides will be essentially empty, with just a short note, um I am thinking like the Russian dolls, so the envelopes are the important parts, the stars of the show, layer after layer! Kinda thing...

Feel a little confused. Do we make one envie for this round or one for each of six partners???? Thank you

FarStarr 10/30/2014 #

@blueackerson You will make one envelope and sent it to the next person on the list. Once this swap closes we'll take the sending order to the forums. In the end you will end up with an envelope with 6 successively smaller envelopes inside.

bigmamabird 11/ 5/2014 #

You will make one envelope, send it to your designated partner (will be listed in the forum) and then as you receive each successive envelope, instead of opening them you will put it in a new envelope, decorate the heck out of it and send it on, so that everyone ends up with a yummylishious nested little (surely plump!) group of envelopes to open!

GinaVisione 11/ 7/2014 #

Ack. Still confused! I thought we start with a small envelope stuffed with goodies, that will be placed in a slightly larger envelope by each successive sender (with added goodies, of course)? So the last sender would be sending the largest envelope? You may have all said this already, my brain just needs to scramble it differently :D

Also, FYI, I never got an email blast yesterday or today from S-B noting that my partners were assigned for this swap; I just got on today cuz I knew it was swappin' time.

bigmamabird 11/ 7/2014 #

Hey Gina, see the description on the forum thread, where hopefully it will become clearer! I have no idea what to do about notices, maybe someone else does..?!? Do ask any further questions you may have as this is an idea that hasn't been tested before and there may still be glitches...
