Description:

I have these ideas in my head. And I end up not doing them because of ... to little time .. too little motivation ... putting things off ... you know what I mean.

Let's motivate each other!!

1st step

Each participant will write in the comment section 1 art project (big or small) s/he would like to do, always wanted to try. Maybe some want to try the same thing and can help each other out, share some inspiration. If you cannot decide on one, then either make up your mind before sign up deadline or ask around. I will drop users who have not set their art goal prior to assigning partners

2nd step

You will finish this art project and then take pictures of it. Either scan it (if possible) or take a good picture with your camera. But please pay attention that you can see it well, maybe take two or three with detail shots?

This is about your art and your motivation so obviously you can do whatever you like.

3rd step

Then, after finishing, send your partner a picture via email. (This is then for rating)

I encourage all participants to comment and criticise, as this is never meant to be personal, but to give us another point of view on our art. It is so easy to get lost in detail and forget the overall picture.

We now have a facebook group. You need to be approved, but all of you can join :) Even if you skip a month or two, come join and see all the others work.

I encourage everybody to do this. Even if you might not be completely happy with the outcome, maybe others can give you useful tipps on how to improve!

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1580705518810888/

For those who don't use facebook but still would like to share their work with the rest of the group I will gladly add them for them. But this is always optional of course :)

Since this includes no sending/receiving physical mail, I will allow all users, but yet reserve the right to ban if you seem to bail on this project.

I had the idea for this swap, because I find it easier to motivate myself to do more of what I always put up till another time if others join me in a "deadline".

Examples of projects:

  • Make a picture in a particular style (maybe a new one??)

  • Let's say you like to draw and always wanted a to start/finish a series, then you could say: "I will draw 3 pictures in this style to add to this series"

  • Design a set of ... ATCs, Greeting Cards, playing cards, a calendar, etc.

  • Learn a new technique and in this case show us your examples, steps and improvement

  • You could say "I want to sketch something every day" and then show us all your amazing artwork

  • Maybe your crafts are a little bigger, like a new piece of furniture?

  • Sculpt, sew, paint .... ANYTHING you have always wanted to do and never did ;)

I hope you now know what I mean.

Hope some will join, and please, ANY craft is welcome.

I think you put this under the wrong category as this wouldn't be a Type 3 but instead would be an electronic swap if you're not sending anything that is physical through the mail.

Sakubik 04/23/2015 #

I know this does not include physical sending, I made it type 3 because it includes making a more or less complex craft.

I think it's a type 3. I want to practice sketching birds. Partly realistic and partly trying to capture that in fewer lines, with a goal of being able to create an abstract flurry of wings or a hovering hummingbird.

A set of 9 ATCs, a cartoon set of some sort.

I want to create a new piece of jewelry every day in May.

I have severe psoriatic arthritis and working with my hands can be painful, but it also helps me both physically and mentally. And honestly, I like feeling like I'm able to do something constructive, so if this is going to help me get prepared for the craft fairs coming up...then I am all in :)

Sakubik 04/28/2015 #

I am a perfectionist. And as soon as something is not perfect I get frustrated and after too many attempts put it aside. I want that not to happen. So I will "force" myself to more loose drawings, no pre-sketching, quick sketches of things, places or people. More of a sketchbook character.

Hopefully that will help me to allow myself to be more freely in my drawings, and also quick sketch for composition instead of detailed drawings over and over again.

I'm IN! :) I've had this bag of balloons and a book how to make different shapes out of them FOREVER - and if I don't force myself I will never use them I'm afraid, so here we go: I will be making balloon animals!

how fun! i would like to learn to etch glass, i bought all the supplies over a month ago and still havent tried it! i also want to finish the painting the upcycled skimboard i started months ago! oh how sad that i havent finished it! this should give me some motivation!

Two beaded roses (I figure if I keep making 2 at a time I will eventually have enough for my bouquet) and/or the knitting the next row on my shawl (the row where all the stitch markers go in, the row I keep messing up).

I want to try a complex paper cut piece. I'm not sure how it will turn out as I have never done a complex one. I was feeling inspired after looking at some other artists work. My second project is a cross between handmade and digital. I want to draw a set of flowers, leaves and other things from nature that I can scan and turn into a patern in Illustrator. I was thinking of making a free download of a computer and phone wallpaper using the pattern in some way, and posting it on my blog. I'll email the photos of the paper cut and the backgrounds to my swap partner. Might post a link to to backgrounds in the FB group once it's on my blog for anyone else who's interested.

I want to create my first mixed media canvas. I bought several canvas 2 months ago but have been too intimidated to create my own. This is the month!

MrsSkywalker 04/30/2015 #

For May I want to continue with my Lumi Inkodye Printing Project as my first results aren't as good as I wanted them to be. Alternatively I bought some tote bags and I want to print or paint something on them.

Sakubik 04/30/2015 #

I think I will change my project ^^

I want to renew my portfolio and website and have been postponing since two months!!! Time to do that. Who knows, maybe I will have some loose drawings in it as well :P

So I will make at least the wireframe for the website and at least 2 strong new pieces for a portfolio

cickly 04/30/2015 #

I haven't had much time for arts and crafts lately as I've been working a lot. Thing is, where I work is really beautiful and I take it for granted a bit, so this month, I will use some of my breaks to do some sketches of where I work!

rngstgstll 04/30/2015 #

I want to try two new twists on my patchwork infinity scarf project this month.
