Description:

For this swap you'll be creating 2 envelopes (mailable size) for 1 partner and each envelope will feature a different type of washi tape!

Since the focus of this design is on the washi tape you use and the designs you create with it, feel free to use pre-made envelopes and just jazz them up with washi. You may also create the envelope before washi-ing it.

Here are some suggestions:

  • try to use more than one washi tape on each envelope--coordinating patterns and prints look so nice together

  • cut pretty little snippets from multiple rolls and create a washi collage

  • use washi horizontally and vertically on your envelopes

  • make certain to press down the edges of your washi so they won't peel in transit to your partner. I like to use a bit of glue under edges or a tiny piece of packing tape on the edges to secure them

  • cover one whole envie with tape--it looks so pretty!

  • washi just the edges of an envelope

These are just suggestions; you may create your envelopes any way you choose, so long as washi is involved. Feel free to add other elements to your envies--rubber stamps, hand drawings, etc.

Please do your best work, send on time, remember to rate your partner, and have fun!

I don't believe you have to cover the envelope entirely in Washi as shown in photo above, right? Unless you want to.

Hi all! At Diane's suggestion, I changed the requirements to TWO envelopes . . . she pointed out that not everyone has a closet full of washi tape!

And no, you don't have to cover the entire envelope--sometimes just bits look so nice!

Are we mailing the envelopes inside an larger envelope?

ladydy5 01/30/2016 #

Juliajae I believe since you are doing two this way she wants it sent in an envelope so swappers can reuse them. So yes, inside a larger envelope, I am not sure the limitations on size of envelope you washi though.

The swap states mailable size. Minimum mailable size is 3 1/2" x 5".
