Description:

I made an incredible blooper when setting up the dates for this swap. The last day to sign up should have June 1, but when I was clicking on the calendar for the swap, I must have clicked on May 1!. SO IF SOMEONE WOULD STILL LIKE TO SIGN UP, PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND I'LL SEE WHETHER I CAN GET THE SWAP INFO STILL LET YOU SIGN UP. I AM ALSO CHANGING THE SENT BY DEADLINE TO JUNE 30.

Because I am moving from our home of 23 years, I've been doing nothing except pack boxes and sort and save or toss. I haven't made a singled thing for about a month. The moving van comes on Monday, June 13 which is coming very fast!

This is a fun project that I did for two swaps here on Swap-Bot when I first joined in 2012. I don’t know who hosted those swaps, so I cannot give her credit for the idea. For this swap you will alter ONE mouse trap for ONE partner. You can find lots of ideas on Pinterest and from You Tube videos. I am including a few links here, but you can find more by doing Google or Pinterest searches.

Sign up for this swap by JUNE 1, 2016, and mail your altered trap to your partner by JUNE 30,,2016. That will give you plenty of time to learn how to do this project and finish it without rushing, (and will allow me to get moved into interim apartment when our house sale is closed and we are waiting for new home to be finished). Make your most beautiful altered piece of art possible for your partner. Since we all do great work, let’s show our partners our best work!

This link will take you to a Pinterest site with samples of amazing altered traps: CLICK HERE

These You Tube videos should help you get started. From the previous swaps, I will share what we were told: the cheaper the trap, the easier it is to undo the metal parts as needed.

  1. This is a great HOW-TO with lots of great ideas. It is about 12 minutes long, so grab your coffee and sit down to enjoy it: : CLICK HERE

  2. This video is rather s-l-o-w but does give you instructions for taking the metal pieces off and putting some back on. (The cheaper the trap the easier it is to work with the metal parts.): CLICK HERE

  3. This video is done by the same person and moves slowly, but has a beautiful altered trap--for me, the slower pace helps me follow easily: CLICK HERE Obviously, no one is going to flake because none of us is that kind of person; I’m not sure why everyone puts this into swaps, but I may not realize how much flaking happens on Swap-Bot. If life interferes with completing this swap, please PM your partner and me so that everyone knows what’s happening. Also, before rating your partner with a 3 or 1, please contact her/him first. Sometimes life interferes in bigger ways than normal, and in those times we have to take care of only the mere life essentials.

Have fun with this swap! Send your partner something more than special!

Ahhhh! Would to join if not international.... I seem to not help myself from getting bulky & postage has gotten crazy!! Have fun!

I know what you mean---this one especially is going to be bulky by its very nature . . . even is not decorated. I think, however, the the group is set up as international which means I must keep all swaps international. I will check to see whether I can do some that are US only. Thanks for bringing up the idea. I may be able to run one of each simultaneously but don't think either swap would have enough people sign up.--I will be back to you--sorry I missed your message until today. But with the surgery, selling the house, finding interim housing to go to if necessary (with short lease), and making decisions about what floors, cupboards, counter tops, etc. I am over extended and exhausted! Back to you as soon as possible!
