Description:

For this swap we will make and trade postcards made from a paperback book. You will have 1 partner.

Go to the thrift store or the dollar store (or look through your own collection) and find a paperback book with an interesting cover. The more ridiculous the better. It can be a romance, mystery, science fiction, whatever. For goodness sake don't spend more than a dollar on it. Check that the inside of the cover does not already have text on it, you will need space for an address and a message.

Carefully remove the cover and trim it to postcard size (about 4x6").

For examples, look at this blog. It's in Dutch, but I'm sure you can figure it out.

Mail your postcard using real stamps. Be sure to include your message, date, and your name so you can be rated.

You must be 18 years or older to swap. This is a Swap-Bot rule.

Please ask if you have any questions. I would rather have questions up front than misunderstandings and hurt feelings later.

OK, well I have a question - is it ok to mount the paperback book cover onto cardstock (in case there is text on the back of the cover)?

ContraryHousewife 03/13/2017 #

Yes. This might also help if the front cover is really thin, since the PO seems to eat a lot of PCs these days.

I found a really neat book cover but it's 5x7 is that okay or do I need to find a smaller one?

ContraryHousewife 03/20/2017 #

You can send a larger card, but it may cost you additional postage. 4.25x6" is the limit for .35 US postage. Just sayin'.

uiltje 03/22/2017 #

@ContraryHousewife : Do you mean by ".35 US Postage" ---> "$ 0,35"? In the Netherlands we pay € 0.78 for inland postcard/letter < 20gr., no matter what size. And we have a very small country........ And $ = € ............. (almost)

ContraryHousewife 03/22/2017 #

@uiltje yes, in the US the price changes by size and weight and a postcard larger than 4.25x6" costs $.49 (or first class rate). We have a very large bureaucracy. :)

uiltje 03/24/2017 #

@ContraryHousewife .... but more fair!

uiltje 03/24/2017 #

And postage from the Netherlands to our neighbour country is the same as to the South Pole..................
