Description:

Hey all you mavens! Time to break out your watercolors for this swap! We will be creating a watercolor painting for our partner featuring a flower (or several if you'd like).

You may use any type of watercolor paints for this. I have tubes, cakes, pencils, and metallic cakes. I'm sure there are tons more types as well.

Take an 8 by 10 inch or larger piece of watercolor paper (cold or hot press- up to you) and paint any type of flower or flowers you'd like. If you want to use a canvas instead that is fine too. You may want to consider trying a new technique or flower type than you've done before. You do not have to be an expert. Beginner watercolorers welcome! There are tons of YouTube tutorials on different watercolor techniques that you can watch for inspiration.

You can't add any other type of medium except for whatever you choose to sign your name with. Please sign your work. You may want to tape your design down along the edges while you're working to prevent your paper from rippling too much. I've found that out the hard way! You can add any other background elements you want as long as your flowers are the main focus of the painting.

Send your artwork flat with a piece of cereal box or something sturdy to prevent it from getting crumpled in the mail. Include a note with your swap bot ID and the name of the swap and feel free to talk about the techniques you used, types of paint you used, how this painting inspires you, etc if you'd like. Be sure to decorate your envelope in some way to brighten it up. It doesn't have to be a work of art, but some fun tapes and stickers or doodles are a sure way to make an envelope happy! Have fun with this!

Using a watercolor block will prevent rippling.
