VelveteenRabbit 03/ 8/2007 #

Finally a simple fabric swap!!!!! I love it! :)

evacorges 03/ 8/2007 #

is it to be cottons only, or could it be heavier fabrics?

SaReMa 03/ 8/2007 #

any kind of fabrics you wish to send...you choose

user6261 03/ 8/2007 #

This sounds fun and simple. Hope more swapers join. I just want to be sure: is 20 cm a 5 1/2 inch square? I have not joined the metric world but I looked on my ruler.

SaReMa 03/ 8/2007 #

neither did I...but I ask my father and he told me that for each inch, we have more or less 2,54cm...I hope it helps

user6217 03/ 8/2007 #

How much is 20 cm and is this international swap

mayki76 03/ 8/2007 #

1'' is about 2.54cm so 20cm is almost 8'', or exactly 7.874''.

niecedenise 03/ 8/2007 #

Easy except for the size. Ill try to get it right.

gwenandcats 03/ 8/2007 #

gonna be 20cmx20cm?

FunToScrap 03/ 8/2007 #

20 cm x 20 cm would be about an 8" square. Is it okay to just say 8" for us in the USA? I don't think my ruler for rotary cutting has cm on it. We are so retro, huh? I remember 30 years ago my math teacher said by the time us kids were adults there would be no more empirical measurements, it would all be metric. I remember thinking I would never know how fast I was going or how to measure the length of stuff. Hee-hee! Well, we are still in the dark ages. :-) This looks like a GRAND swap. Thanks for thinking of it. Chy

VelveteenRabbit 03/ 9/2007 #

8" sounds good. I'm in Canada, which is SUPPOSED to use the metric system but we're all mixed up and use both systems: kilometres when driving and kilograms when grocery shopping, but feet and inches when talking about height and pounds when talking about a person's weight... oy! :)

Anyway I have lots of GOOD scraps that I'd love to trim to 8" /20cm squares and send to good homes. :) I'm actually looking forward to being surprised with colours and textures and materials because they will probably spark some creativity. When we buy our own fabrics, we probably do much of what we've already done before. So this should be fun. :)

user6613 03/11/2007 #

Are newbies (or those who haven't yet received ratings) welcome?

SaReMa 03/12/2007 #

Yes, newbies are welcome, as long as you keep up with your part of the swap. In not, you'll be banned from future ones.

Jox 03/12/2007 #

Looking forward to this one, just had a look at my fabric stash and realised that there's a story about each of them, ahh, don't worry I'm not going to bore you with storys of unfinished curtains :-) Thou I might when I swap and I would like to hear if your fabric has a story.

niecedenise 03/12/2007 #

oh my, just where in my stash do I begin!

alicepalace 03/13/2007 #

Excellent! Can't beleive I've only just noticed this one..

Can I just ask that whoever gets assigned me as a partner waits till after the 24th of March to send as I'm moving house - I don't want to jinx it by putting the new address up before we move in! ;)

raydance 03/14/2007 #

While I do welcome most fabrics just to stick into my stash, I'm currently working on some crafts that look better with medium weight cotton or similar, so I'd appreciate it if you managed to send swaps with fabric like that! Don't go out of your way to get them, but if you happen to have a wide range of fabric lying around and don't know where to start... =p

user6261 03/14/2007 #

I love to keep up with the new people to the swap by reading profiles. I notice there are a lot of international swappers in this one, so that's fun. But what I wonder about is why a few people do not fill out a single word on the profile, but request people to send them a message to get any information at all. Not go look at their blog or flicker, mind you, but request info in a message! That seems kind of anti social to me and not in the spirit of the swapping culture. Do they just not want to take the time? Swapping does require a good investment of time. Anyway I may be the only one in the world who thinks this way, but I do believe it is very unappealing to run across a blank profile like that.

user6967 03/14/2007 #

Hello! :) I'm from Singapore and I love fabrics! I especially love those with cutesy designs, or paisley prints (:

I particularly like castles, clouds, hearts and colorful stuffs!

Can't wait to get my swap stuffs, this is oh-so-exciting!

user5897 03/15/2007 #

I love this idea! I think I will make a simple quilted pillow out of all my new fabrics that comes in! If you get my name, green, gold, brown and rust/reds would be great, any patterns or solids, but if you don't have any of those, just anything you have will work! I can always find something to do with fabrics! I'm looking forward to this one... Thanks! Susan

user5897 03/15/2007 #

P.S. I thought about this right after I pushed that button! If anyone who gets my name has a dog themed fabric, please, please send it to me! Thanks!

Susan again!

gwenandcats 03/16/2007 #

Hey. I didnt get any mail about my swap partners :(

SaReMa 03/16/2007 #

Swap-bot is changing things, and I didn't know that now we, coordinators, have to assign the partners...but it's done already, you can all go and check your partners and start sending snail mail.

1CrazyQuilter 03/17/2007 #

Memmu, Martha, Mayki76, Devanear I sent out your packages today.

Vlcatko 03/19/2007 #

Deanna, Marlene and Kirstin --- I sent your packages today - please be patient, it takes quite a while from the Czech Republic to the US (2 weeks min.) ;)

Alice --- your package will be sent on the 26th to your new address :)

user6613 03/19/2007 #

NieceDenise, Saor, raydance & Missy... I sent your packages today from Canada -- I hope they don't take forever to arrive!

user6602 03/20/2007 #

I sent mine to Sandra, Katherine, Jo and Sasha today.

For the two in the UK, it usually takes 7 to 10 days airmail over the pond. I put a little extra something in the pack for you too.

Kind regards,

UK Girl

princesskate 03/20/2007 #

I sent my packages out to boopgirly, Summer, fiona2277, and pinkieme today.

The post office claims the ones to the US should be there in a few days, the ones going to the UK and Singapore should take about a week to get there.

Enjoy!

Kate

Kat 03/20/2007 #

Sent mine out to Aly, VelveteenRabbit and Ove&Lucia today. I also sent to my fourth before I read that she deleted her account, so I guess she'll get something anyway.

user6909 03/21/2007 #

I sent mine to: 1CrazyQuilter, Mayki76, anya, and MamaSaidSew

raydance 03/22/2007 #

Christy I got your package today thanks so much. I love the M&M stickers!

zanylady 03/22/2007 #

Karen in Utah....I got your 5 squares today. Thanks!

I notice they are all the same fabric. I want to send 5 different fabrics...hope my partners like that.

If the swap requires all the same, let me know as I plan to mail them out soon.

Marlene

Saor 03/23/2007 #

Daisygirl - thank you for the lovely fabrics - the blues are my favourite. It was parcelled so beautifully too. Thank you for the patch.

Vlcatko 03/23/2007 #

Whoever lives in Netherlands and sent to me --- thank you - I got the package today :) My favourite is the brown one with small flowers :)

user6261 03/23/2007 #

Velveteen Rabbit, I got your package yesterday. So generous with the extra pieces! I loved them all. I see a cool juxtaposition between the delicate white on white floral and the masculine big scaled plaid. I have a big square vintage mother of pearl button that looks wonderful with the two. Thanks! I'm finishing my packages today and mailing them Wednesday.

VelveteenRabbit 03/23/2007 #

Marlene, I never noticed that it wasn't specified but I think the general assumption was that we'd send 5 different pieces (otherwise we could have just sent one big piece). :)

Anya, I'm glad you liked the fabric! I realized that there was a bit of an odd mix there but hoped it would spark some creativity. Sounds like you're on top of it! :)

timmetje 03/24/2007 #

Today I received the fabrics from Christy, (mama said sew) thank you I like all the different fabrics and also the papers you have sent as well! I appreciate that! Greetings from Martha

lucias 03/24/2007 #

I received the fabrics from Jox in London and Sandra from Portugal. I love them all and they indeed enlightened my days :=) Thank you! I post the pictures on my flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/willove/

But is there a place here on swap bot that we can see picture of everyone's send/receive?

niecedenise 03/25/2007 #

user6261 03/27/2007 #

DR Streett from Pennsylvania, I received your package. Thanks! Also, I am mailing to 1 Crazy Quilter, Devanear, Mayki 76, and Mama Said Sew today. From the states, just so Devanear and Mayki know it'll take a little time to get there.

raydance 03/27/2007 #

Daisygirl, thank you for your beautiful selection of cottons, they're perfect for my crafts! =D

VelveteenRabbit 03/27/2007 #

Alison, I got your package today! I really like the fabric you sent me. :) It's neat because I might not have picked them out for myself (as I tend to go for the same-old) but I know I will enjoy using these! Thank you. :)

zanylady 03/27/2007 #

Red Letter Day (actually I don't know where that saying comes from but it means a really special day!)

I received three more packages of fabric:

Carrie...thanks for the "warm" selection Alice, love your "brights" livens up this gray day and Vlcatko...(yes it made it!) for the very different fabric, love them all and great that some are international! Your're a peach!

Thanks to all of you and so happy that the International ones made it across the ocean! I hope mine do, too!

Great swap! Marlene

Marlene

lucias 03/28/2007 #

I received the package from Kathrine yesterday. Great fabrics! the one with small heart is my favorite now :=) Thank you, Katherine.

alicepalace 03/28/2007 #

Thanks to Kirsten and Carrie for your lovely fabrics. Carrie - Royal Mail managed to completely destroy the envelope and half of your note (including half your e-mail address) - it arrived in a plastic bag with 'Our Sincere Apologies' on - no idea what they could have done to it to wreck it so totally! But the fabric has survived unscathed :)

mayki76 03/29/2007 #

Cristy ans Loreto, your fabrics were recieved earliert his week. than you for sending via express mail, and thank you for the lovely swaps.

VelveteenRabbit 03/29/2007 #

user6261 03/31/2007 #

Loreto, I love your package. So prettily packaged. I love that extra step. And the fabrics are great. I especially like the one with the big colorful words and the soft pink and green flannel. I like them all. (And the wooden charms too!) Thanks so much!

raydance 04/ 2/2007 #

Denise and Saor, I received your packages today!

Thanks to all of you for a fun swap!...Deb (groundhoggirl)

user6589 04/ 5/2007 #

hello! it was my first swap on swap bot and i think it was the last :( i receive only 3 packages and one of them with 5 pieces of the same fabric, and what an ugly fabric....

alicepalace 04/ 5/2007 #

Leyre, you should be a bit more patient - I haven't received all of mine yet either but it's too soon to give up hope. Also, the person who sent you the fabric that was all the same, she doesn't know you so she doesn't know your taste. You just have to put up with it. I received one lot of fabric that was all the same, and i like it quite a lot - the description doesn't actually say they all have to be different.

user6261 04/ 5/2007 #

I've been out of town. My email says there was a new message on swap bot on April 3. I've heard from 1Crazy Quilter and Maya...if anyone here wrote that message, could you send it again! Thanks

gwenandcats 04/ 6/2007 #

memmu, Guapa_Morena, Martha and carribee : I have sent your packages on 29/3/07. I wish you have received and enjoyed them.

I have got my packages from mamasaidsew and 1CrazyQuilter. I'm waiting for the other two packages.

Derya

memmu 04/ 6/2007 #

Gwenandcats... thanks for the package, I received it a couple of days ago :)!

user2955 04/ 7/2007 #

Who else had Nobody Nowhere as a partner? Leyre and Alice-Palace? The person dropped out and claims they tried to drop from the swap. Sandromatos - any suggestions for how wecan remedy this? I would be happy to send to the three other people who missed out.

alicepalace 04/ 8/2007 #

I did not have Nobody Nowhere as a partner either to send to or to receive from.. I have received 3/4 of my fabric packages so far. I hope all my partners have theirs by now! :)

niecedenise 04/ 9/2007 #

Saor, I really like your given name better. But i bet you have an awful time with the pronunciation. i would pronounce it shivonn. Am I anywhere close? Thank you for the fabrics. i cant wait to use them Thankyou, Denise

Saor 04/ 9/2007 #

Denise - Shivonn is actually pretty close - I say Shiv-ON and it's pretty regular in Ireland but not so common elsewhere:) Glad you liked the fabric.

I had great fun with this swap picking the fabrics and deciding what to send to who. I have received 2/4 so far and two of my partners have received.

gwenandcats 04/10/2007 #

I have received a package from Anya today. Thankies anya

user6261 04/10/2007 #

My last package should be from Susan. I notice, however, she has not sent and since there is no message, I assume it won't be sent. This was her first swap. Does anyone know what's up with her? It's disappointing when this happens.

Saor 04/10/2007 #

I received a very generous package and a lovely card from candyragz today.

VelveteenRabbit 04/10/2007 #

Nobody Nowhere was supposed to send to me, too. Oh well...

Saor 04/10/2007 #

I see that the last person who was sending to me deleted her account but I can't complain because I got such fun and generous parcels from my other partners.

SaReMa 04/11/2007 #

The swapers who were to recive from Nobody Nowhere were Aly, VelveteenRabbit, Susan, Ove and Lucia.

And this deleted account swaper was to receive from me, UK Girl, Jox and Kat.

Did any of the sending partners really send the items to this partner as I did? And did any of the receiving partner received anything?

I'm sorry for only noticing it now...I haven't been having much time to check all the swaps...but let's try to fix this one first, OK? Please let me know who sent and received, from the above swapers.

Saor 04/11/2007 #

My last partner is Summer but she has deleted her account(she is marked sent though on the list of participients).

Did anyone else receive from her?

VelveteenRabbit 04/11/2007 #

Hi Sandra, Thanks for your concern about this, but I'm okay. I appreciate the fabrics I got but I wouldn't someone else to send an extra package just to make up for Nobody Nowhere. It's one of the risks we take on swap-bot. :)

Vlcatko 04/11/2007 #

Memmu and Guapa_Morena --- thank you both for your beautiful fabrics :) Arrived yesterday and today.

SaReMa 04/12/2007 #

OK everyone! I want to mend the "losses" in this swap, after all it's my responsability! And I don't want nobody unhappy in any of my swaps. I'll keep you posted on this, OK?

VelveteenRabbit 04/16/2007 #

Actually, Sandra... I don't think it is your responsibility. As the host, you're certainly responsible for communicating with people, but it's not your fault if a swapper doesn't fulfill the requirements. The good thing about this swap is that we all have 4 partners, so I'm sure we all got at least a couple of packages. For me, 3 out of 4 is pretty good! It's better than getting nothing.

I suppose if there are people willing to send out an extra package, they can volunteer, but I would never hold you responsible for the "flakiness" of others... and I hope no one else would either. :)
