Horsey Themed Items

I would totally do this if I weren't overbooked for March. If it were in April...probably.

Okay, I'm gonna sign up though a slightly later date would work a little better.

I am a horse owner.

APPYTAZ -- Is that your horse in the photo? She/he looks very sly! :)

APPYTAZ -- I'm excited to be in contact with (apparently) the other horse lover on swap-bot. I would love it if you'd like to also send a short (or long :)) letter about your horse, your discipline, your horsey experiences, etc. Right now, I'm working on the hand-made item.

I am very surprised we didn't get a better response here! Oh well, lesson learned I guess.

So about my guy, he is 6 yr. Appy. Hes 15'2 about 1100lbs. I have had him since he was 6 months old. (Actually, he came from my trainer, she has both his parents and he is the last of their babies. My good friend owns his older full brother. We were at one show were there was the mare, Tazx - 2 other full brothers and a 1/2 brother. It was a neat reunion.) I work the Parelli Games with him. We have shown successfully in halter and showmanship. I started out wanted to use him for Western Pleasure, however, due to some issues with my confidence, I have decided to drive him. So that is our next adventure. He is definately an Alpha personality! So, I guess that short intro went a little long :-)

Hey I am a horsey person too. I have Haflingers and an OLD Standardbred (she will be 42! on April 5th)

Wow!! Now there are three of us! AlwaysJoy, what do you do with your Haflingers? I'm asking in case I see discipline-specific gifts (though I won't necessarily go that route). My guy, Pico, is a 7 y.o. Thoroughbred I use for dressage. I need to update my blog but there are pics of him on my blog and on my Flickr, if either of you are interested. Pico's quite a character. He's coming along pretty nicely but he spooked at a chicken last week, bolted off, tossing me on to the ground where I landed on my face. My face got banged up and I sprained my neck. Not fun!

I ride (saddleseat) and drive them, and my old standardbred is a lawn ornament these days but she is still my best pal ever. I am really excited about this swap I came up with a great idea for a homemade item I just need to see which of you is my partner because I have to figure out color.

smartcakes, are you a horse owner, too? If so, what do you do with your horse(s)?

AlwaysJoy, I grew up on a Saddlebred, showing Saddleseat. I really loved it. I am now working on driving my Appy. We are just about the hook to the buggy for the 1st time.

Lily - What size is Pico?

Pico is 15.2 -- not really that tall for a TB! He's a 72".

I don't have a horse at the moment, but I'm the manager of a boarding facility, and have done dressage (not well!).

I'll be moving back to Canada in the fall (hopefully!), and we'll be purchasing farm property. I'm sure once all that happens, I'll end up with a horse in short order, if I have my way.

I have such a soft spot for old horses... the oldest one I've ever had died last year at age 35. 42!! That's very impressive!

Lily - My guy is also 15'2 but his big ol' butt takes a 78! We have another TB at the barn that is also 15'2 but she actually doesn't look it.

Hi, Can my gifts ship out seperately? I want to order one online and then the one I am making. So they would ship not together. Is that okay? And my other question is should they be a value of 10 to 15 each or total? Only because I have no idea of the value of what I am making...

Lily, I got it today, and it is SO cool! Thank you VERY much. I'll get out the camera tonight and post photos. My three year old son has already claimed the the little cell phone charm for himself... he did give in and allow me to have the darling little bookmark back. :)

Oh, thank you so much for letting me know it got there! If you use the keychain, you can pretend your son made it since it looks like a child's work! I had fun making it -- and the dish towel -- so I guess that's what matters! :)
