beginner zine EDIT!

I'm so glad you started this swap - I just started creating my first zine last week but I'm a little nervous about it since I am very new to the concept of zines. I'm hoping for some constructive criticism on my first effort! Sam xoxo

Wow i just signed up, I am looking forward to this. Ive always wanted to have a go at making a zine, nows my chance!

I just posted this in Sunnie's forum thread, but thought it was worth posting here for everyone else to see too. Also, I'm not a beginner, but would love to participate. I adore zines! I'm also willing to help anyway I can!

Broken Pencil is a magazine devoted to zine culture and reviewing zines: http://www.brokenpencil.com/

There's also lots of guides out there on the internet. Go to google and type in "How to Make a Zine" or Youtube and "Make a zine." You'll get lots of results and ideas.

Just go with what feels good to you. There's lots of different types and styles of zines out there. Write what you want, and just see how things grow and take shape.

My zines tend to be journal style... me writing about my life and personal growth. Others are themed. Still more are fanzines devoted to a person, topic, band, etc.

I've been wanting to write a zine for the longest time! I'll put this on my watchlist, and see if I can get the courage to actually do it!

this may sound silly but what exactly is zine?

a self published maga"zine" that contains anything and everything under the sun, they are usually traded, sold really cheap or given away free!

but the above links are very helpful in answering your question properly!!

PS. I haven't got any ratings yet but I have sent off a few swaps (I am a newbie to Swap-bot) so hopefully will have been rated by January. If I haven't, then feel free to kick me out, but fingers crossed I will!

sure I would not mind doing a private swap if they want to start an actual swap for the rating..or I will do just a regular swap without the rating if they are interested....dont matter to me :)

well girls, i extended the send date for a swapper BUT when i went to do that, it forced me to change the sign up date to today and i didnt think it would reopen the swap on the s-b-list because it was allready in progress but it did! so 3 new swappers signed up!!!!

now they have no partners....sigh.off to contact rachael about my big blooper!

well this is exactly what happeened before when th others girls had no partner, they must have signed up when i was extending the date!!!yikes, i have figured it out, so to the three new swappers please no you will be unable to participate and will not get a rating, however you can feel free to set up a similar swap and host it yourself!!!

HI, just wanted to make note that my zine was sent on JAN 19th and RECD on JAN22 even though my sent by date is today (because like a fool I click the sent again, DUH) please ingnore my ramblings and adding confusion to your swap.
