Description:

Dear Ladies,

As you know, our vicar has returned to his home county to marry his sweetheart now that he has been gifted the living of St. Francis and has means to support her. My husband has had a letter from Mr. Thomas advising that he and his new bride will be arriving next week. We ladies must do our best to welcome Mrs. Thomas to our village. His bride, Mary, is young and charming albeit shy. She is a new wife and as she makes herself acquainted with life here and finds her niche, let us show her friendship and kindness. I know we will all be formally introduced to her when she arrives, but let us extend our hand in friendship by writing letters introducing yourselves and telling her of anything amongst our village that may be of interest or help to her as she settles into our parish. When she and Mr. Thomas are in residence let us hope our letters will make her feel she is already a part of our society here in Amberleigh and can confidently call upon any one of us for help or simply to chat. I know I may depend upon all of you to show Mrs. Thomas our unique bond of friendship.

For this swap, you will write a letter welcoming Mary Thomas to our parish. It doesn't have to be a tome but should be at least two sides of a sheet of stationery. That should be sufficient to get your thoughts across. Be creative and talk of village life or simply introduce yourself and talk about your life and interests.
