Description:

This was so much fun the first time, that I'd like to do it again.

All you have to do is go to the dollar store, buy one thing that you can mail by itself, NOT in a box! Just tape it if necessary, slap on a mailing address label, and take it to the PO and send it off.

The possibilities are endless. The only rules are that it needs to have a $1.00 dollar value, and be mailed as is, NOT in a box! Also postage costage costs are separate from the actual $1.00 value of the item.

Come and send some fun, unusual mail!

This is no longer an USA swap, due to some great info from a nice person in Canada, who I hope joins up!!

You will have only one partner to send one item to. How much easier can that be?

You must have a rating of 4.5 at least and no more than 1 no send, or you will be banned from this swap. I never have made a rule like this before, but already someone in my first group was flaked, so I must be a bit stricter. If anyone is willing to angel someone who may get flaked on, please let me know in a private message. Thanks!

This is called "Naked Mail" and is really fun. I've done a lot of it thru Nervousness.org. These things are a blast to receive and I'm sure had my mailman scratching his head. :)

I've never heard of this before, but it sounds like a challenge and I couldn't bring myself to pass it up!! How do you know what you can and can't send??

Susi 03/24/2007 #

You pretty much can send anything! I have heard (by a posta employee) that a real coconut has been sent!) I receiced a pencil pouch this time, and in the past, I have received a frisbee, and a paper plate (that was kind of disappointing), that's why I put a $1.00 maximum for the item. I do need to edit the swap, because postage costs will be separate from the dollar value of the item. susi

I have heard it called Naked Mail as well, also mail art, if you decorate it somehow. I once sent out a mini child paddle board stamped randomly with summer type rubber stamps, and poked holes in the bottom and tied ribbon tails on it! susi

This was fun the last time. I am in again.

Susi 03/25/2007 #

moowee, i have something similar to yours i could send but it depends on my partner.. I have an idea though, if size does not cause me any limitations1 I may have to get creative on how to send it!

Susi 03/25/2007 #

Everyone, I received info that Naked or Unusual Mail can be sent pretty much anywhere so i am making this swap international. I think it will be fun if we get something from a different country! susi

I am excited about this swap. I am not home when the mailperson delivers my mail. I would love to see the look on her face when my swap comes.

There's a plactic plate (very cool official NBA one) winging its way to someone as we speak. Enjoy!

lob 04/ 4/2007 #

Oh, I meant plastic.

My swap left my house today and on it's way to...I'll let it be a surprise. I'll give you a hint though...I'm sure it's much warmer there than it is here.

My dollar store was slacking in cool mailables, but hopefully I found something fun, though! It's on it's way to MA!

AeroChik I sent your package out yesterday. hope you like it.

SueFitz 04/16/2007 #

Got my frisbee on Thursday - thanks.

mejulia 04/17/2007 #

My hot water bottle arrived today, thank you!

pgk 04/17/2007 #

LOL Julia! My post office was laughing so hard when I sent that off. It did say unusual and my kids agreed.

alwaysjoy 04/18/2007 #

I got my playdoh so cool, thought my niece stole it before I could get the sender's name!

pgk 04/19/2007 #

I've got nothing at all! (sniff, sniff) Once again, another flaker!

BMT 04/19/2007 #

Ok...I finally received mine and I don't think the post office appreciated this swap...the item (plate, bowl..I think) is in a post office bag in pieces...It looks like my partner wrote me a note...sorry I don't know who you are..but Thank you...my past three swaps flaked on me...so even though it is in pieces...it restored my faith in swap-bot....

boopgirly 04/23/2007 #

sniff sniff Mine has not arrived yet either.

moowee 04/25/2007 #

I have been in contact with the person who was sending me something. I have also checked with the person that I am sending to. I do not have anything and my partner did not get hers either. We both mailed our swaps out right after the partners were assigned so there has been plenty of time for delivery.

My partner is rated a 5. I told her that I would not rate her with a "no send" because of the nature of this swap. I do not think that it would be fair becasue the nature of this swap makes it likely that the post office could damage or lose what was being sent.

Have any of you had this problem?

I am resending to my partner and I will hope for the best the 2nd time.

pgk 04/26/2007 #

I rated my partner a 1 only because I had no message from her and nothing received until I put something on here about it. She noted that what she sent was "undeliverable" so she is going to send something else. I will re-rate her when I do receive something.

I got my swap today. It was a purse with a big skull on one side. I am sure that my mail lady had to look twice. Groovy. Thank you Joy.
