ATC for Newbies and Oldies

I would like to join, but alas, I am a newbie. I have but one question, and it is: What is an ATC? :D

Mookseika: ATC Stands for Artist Trading Card, you can google it if you would like detailed info, but all you need to know to swap is that its 2.5 x 3.5 inches, usually sturdier than one piece of paper (if you search for it on etsy.com you can find ATCs blanks which can make it easier) they don't have to be paper though, I have seen fabric, metal and wood ones too. Anyways, if you want, feel free to check out my flickr for examples or just search flickr and you will find tons. Most of the info will come from you, its your art, so you make it how you want =D it just has to meet the size and you are golden! Hope that helped!

I would like to join too. So, I only need to stick to the size. I saw some of them are rounded in four angles, and do I need to make it as a card with inner page? or one side folded?

So the only rules, I expect to be followed for this swap are as follows: SIZE 3.5 X 2.5 inches. MATERIALS: should be made or mounted on something as sturdy as a file card at the minimum, can be on thicker material. INFO: on the back you should but your name(either swap-bot name, real name or both), the date, your city and state (or country if not USA) and the words Swap-bot and ATC for Newbies and Oldies. Other than that, some people name their art, you can include your blog address or web site etc if you like.

You can hand draw or paint or chalk, you can cut and paste, you can glue on various material such as buttons, ribbon, lace, bottle caps. etc, you can use just about anything. It should be an expression of yours, however. Make it as artistic as possible. It can be beautiful, sad, scary, confusing, thought-provoking, angry. etc. Just keep it in good taste unless you have PMed your partner and gotten an OK for something controversial. The door is wide open on this one. No theme or expectations at all other than it be something nice.

So this particular ATC swap has no theme correct? So anything goes on the theme right?

What information goes on the back of an atc?

Some of the terms used in some of these swaps make me feel dumb ;) I still have no idea what kawaii is?

Question Monday Jan 19th is a national holiday and the mail isnt running. Does the ATC have to arrive in our partner's hands by Jan 21st?

I just joined today and am very excited to get started. How many of you use an actual playing card to be sure your dimensions are correct? I am going to get mine finished tomorrow. I teach and will not have the day off. Poor me. :-(

This is going to be my very first ATC ever so I hope I do okay! I'm using a playing card to make sure the dimensions are correct and that its sturdy enough. I've been searching etsy for some digital epherma(sp?) so I hope it interesting.
