Description:

Hey everybody! I've been going through my crafty items, postcards, etc. and I keep coming across stuff that makes me wonder, "would a straight person want to get this?" It might sound weird, but not everyone is into rainbows and liberalism. This swap is about all that is queer. That can be interpreted very broadly, but obviously no hate or socially conservative stuff. Religious is ok, but keep in mind that we are a diverse community. And you don't have to identify as queer either, just send something that you, as an ally, think your partner would like. There are going to be 3 partners for each person who signs up. You will send 2 items to each partner that you think are queer and that you would like to receive. This can be almost anything; bumper stickers, rainbow bracelets, wee rainbow flags, an Oscar Wilde postcard or notecard (unused), an ATC or something you've made, a story or piece of erotica you've written, or post a comment if you have more ideas you'd like to include. I'd like to keep this simple so we can keep down postage costs, but of course you are welcome to mail full-blown packages. This swap is genderfabulous, so you might get something gay, lesbian, bi, tranny, etc. Standard swap stuff: if you are a newbie and want to join send me a link to etsy or ebay or something where I can see how you are rated. If you've been rated, you need a 4.5 to participate in this swap.

So everyone knows, I will be banning people right before I assign partners, so I can go through the list all at once.

I think this sounds awesome!

onestrangekitten 04/ 4/2007 #

This sounds like fun! I'm straight, but this sounds like fun! Please don't worry about if I get it or not!

bordercollielover 04/ 4/2007 #

I'd love to join...I am straight but am a very proud PFLAG mom.

Kind Regards, Sue

timanna 04/ 4/2007 #

Yay! Straight people are welcome, the more the merrier. I put this one out pretty far in the future so people have time to get ratings before partners are assigned and because I'm already committed to a few swaps at this point.

user5409 04/ 4/2007 #

Queer for queer. I'm in!

stlouisphile 04/ 5/2007 #

I applaud you for getting out there and coming up with this swap. I think I'll join in too!

user7267 04/ 5/2007 #

I'm a newbie, but I'll join as soon as I get my ratings from the two swaps I'm in now.

Power to you for starting this! Hurrah!

timanna 04/ 6/2007 #

Thanks so much for all the support for this swap! I'm definitely looking forward to it.

user5409 04/ 9/2007 #

I love coming in every other day or so and watcing this swap grow. Way cool.

motes 04/10/2007 #

I am so excited to have found this swap! I'm in!

scowlette 04/11/2007 #

i am glad this swap was created as some of the hetrocentric swaps were kind of starting to irk me.

user6347 04/16/2007 #

so...we send stuff that we want to receive? like, if I want stickers then I send stickers?

Sorry, kinda confused here. and is this international?

timanna 04/16/2007 #

Oh, sorry for the confusion! You can send anything queer and your partner can send you anything queer, there just has to be 2 items to each partner. So, you could send a sticker and a bracelet to one person and get 2 stickers from another person. The requirements are pretty loose because I wanted lots of people to be able to participate. Hope that clears it up! Oh yeah, and it's international.

user6347 04/16/2007 #

In that case, I shall join!

im just not sure where i would find stuff....i live in a town of 7200 with 41 churches...so gay, lesbian, bisexuality is not all that "encouraged" when it comes to stores and such....which irks my buttons in a great way that my town is so narrow minded...

LavaRocky 04/18/2007 #

elizabeth4510, sorry you live in such a repressive place, but don't let them smother your creativity. Think outside the crayon box. Rainbows are everywhere! :-)

timanna 04/18/2007 #

I second what Lava Rocky said. Feel free to create something for this swap, I think I mentioned ATCs or writing a letter or writing a story (fiction or non-fiction). Rainbows are not necessary, just fun sometimes. Let me know if you need more ideas!

I'm signing up for this swap een though I'm a newbie to Swap-Bot because I absolutely WILL have earned sufficient good ratings to qualify me for this by the time partners ae assigned and the swapping begins. I happen to be a Lesbian myself, so I can relate to the underlying theme of this swap and am happy to see something GLBTQ-friendly, whether what I end up receiving is actually GLBTQ-related or not. I'm game for anything. Also, I happen to love rainbows in any context, be they associted with "queer" or otherwise, so whatever comes, I'm open to. Signing up now gives me enough time to plan good quality possibilities ofr my send outs.

gobybike 04/22/2007 #

im new (as in i just signed up this morning) but i really want to do this swap! i identify as genderqueer and was pretty excited to see this swap on the list.

timanna 04/23/2007 #

Everyone who is interested in this swap, you are welcome to join! I only ask that you message me if you don't have any ratings before I assign partners and let me know another place where you are rated. Message me if you have any questions. Thanks!

gobybike 04/25/2007 #

perhaps we could also send "coming out stories" of some sort (for those of us who are queer, of course) or write about why you havent come out yet?

i love hearing other peoples coming out stories and thought i'd suggest it. idk. its just an idea. :]

timanna 04/25/2007 #

that sounds cool! however you're inspired.

carniemichelle 05/ 2/2007 #

carniemichelle, your package arrived today. What lovely handmade paper! And of course the sari silk yarn is gorgeous. Even the rainbow ribbon was lovely. Thank you!

SummerLion 06/ 2/2007 #

Got a wonderful package from Vicki Bloom today... A Tinkie-Winkie card (yay!); a Kiss Me Twice, I'm Bisexual! pin; a beautiful rainbow Duck Tape wallet with a queer buck inside; and a detective novel, She Came in a Flash by Mary Wings. What fun! Thanks!

stlouisphile 06/ 7/2007 #

I have to tell you I love what I have received from my partners! Great job!

Also I have to CONFESS something -- I thought I had mailed my cards out over two weeks ago --EARLY in fact. Well I saw that they weren't on my desk so I assumed they were mailed. WRONG - they've been traveling back in forth in my purse in the flap section. I mailed them This Morning. Dopey me! I am so sorry ladies -- these are in the mail. They're coming in cool black envelopes so look for 'em. -- Donnaj

Cherries 06/10/2007 #

Vicki Bloom, Was that the She Came in a Flash that I sent you? If so, I hope you sent her the companion book _She Came Too Late__ so she'll have the set.
