Description:

I am hosting this swap in my Ghosts! group as a type 2 International swap, but I thought it could work really well here for this group as well. I'm setting this up as an EMAIL swap, though, so it is easy to send, and to share links as well.

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is my first thought when someone says "Christmas". The book has been adapted in countless movie versions, referred to on TV shows, mentioned in books, plays, and graphic novels. Most people probably even have a favorite version of the movie (I'm partial to a few very, very OLD live action versions, but I think Mickey's Christmas Carol was how I first learned the story.)

In 2017, The Man Who Invented Christmas was released, and it has become another favorite of mine, telling the story of Dickens as he was writing A Christmas Carol.

If you haven't read, listened to or watched any version of the movie recently, this is your push! Choose your favorite version - book, audio, movie - read/watch it (again?) and tell your partner what you thought of the story.

This swap is International, EMAIL, and you will have 3 partners. Be sure to use BCC when sending out to your partners, and include 'swap-bot' in the message line. Remember to include the full swap name and your swap-bot ID so your partners can rate you.

In an EMAIL to your partners, tell your partners:

what you read/listened to/watched - include as much info as you can, so your partner can look it up if they wish. Include the website/link if you have it.

Why did you choose this version?

What did you think? Were the ghosts real? What did you think of Scrooge as a character - both at the beginning of the movie/book and end?

What about the story? Do you think it's outdated, or is it still a relevant reminder to us today?

Bonus, if you watched The Man Who Invented Christmas as well - what did you think? Did you enjoy the movie? How much did you believe? Bonus: If you know more than one version of this story, do you think the different versions give a different feeling or meaning to the story?

I'm setting this up very early, and leaving the sign up/send by until later in December, to give you all a chance to find versions of the story and read/watch them. In the USA, you can probably find a few versions available at the library or through apps like Hoopla. Amazon Prime or IMDB may also have free versions to view. Amazon has ebook and audioboook versions for around $1 each, and Disney Plus has the Mickey version, the Muppet version, and the Jim Carey version. It's everywhere! :)

Feel free to post links in the comments below if you find links to versions of the book/movie, especially if they are free or inexpensive to help others out.

If you have a favorite version, you can link that as well. :)

If you have any questions or comments please send me a PM and I'll respond as soon as I can. If anyone is interested in an snail mail version of this swap, please let me know that too. This is one of my all time favorites, so I'm happy to do multiple versions. :)
