Description:

Hi everyone!

So lately I've been really interested in those "____ a day for a year" challenges/stories. See, for example, Noah Scalin's Skull A Day.

So naturally, I thought "hmmm there may be a swap in here somewhere." I've had a lot of fun with the challenges/prompted swaps I've hosted, so maybe this one will be cool, too.

But don't worry, I'm not asking you to commit to 365 days. Seven sounds a lot more reasonable.

Want to know the actual activity you're committing to? I'm going to call it doodling. I like that word rather than drawing because it's a lot less intimidating. If you try to draw something and it comes out terribly, hey, it's just a doodle! No worries!

So you'll doodle every day for a week. If you want to make something more extravagant than a doodle, by all means, go ahead. The doodle is the minimum requirement. But please don't rate your partner low if their artistic skills limit them to simpler drawings!

And! I'm going to give you some prompts for each day of the week. These aren't mandatory to follow, but I think they'll help you stay motivated and inspired. I'll list those in this description down below.

Other details:
-doodles can be any size you want, as long as they're not SUPER tiny, i.e., make them at least a square inch each
-you can use any kind of tools/media (even printing digital illustrations would be fine!)
-miss a day? No problem, but please still make 7 doodles to be fair to others
-your art doesn't need to be perfect, but make an effort
-this is international, so if your partner is overseas, you might opt for smaller drawings. I totally wouldn't blame you if you squeezed them all onto an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper to be sure to stay under 1 oz.
-please also include notes. At a minimum, label each drawing with a date and prompt (whether you use mine or your own)
-I won't say your doodles HAVE to be representational, but if you do something abstract, make sure your effort is nonetheless obvious. Maybe put extra time into your notes?

Ok, now to come up with some prompts for y'all. I'll be grabbing random prompts and ideas from the internet, so they aren't wholly original, FYI. And remember, these are OPTIONS. I don't want to limit you too much, nor do you have to incorporate all 4 ideas each day.

Day 1: Wednesday 4/20
-knitting -orchid -something that makes you happy -the start

Day 2: Thursday 4/21
-picnic -something yellow -something that you're curious about -a window

Day 3: Friday 4/22
-seashells -something local to where you live -giraffes -daisies

Day 4: Saturday 4/23
-fishing -your favorite video game/cartoon character -a musical instrument -a wolf

Day 5: Sunday 4/24
-dogs -something geometric -a lightbulb -a hand

Day 6: Monday 4/25
-cats -books -a seahorse -a mythical creature

Day 7: Tuesday 4/26
-cacti -frog -clocks -the finish line

So, to recap:
-send your partner 7 doodles, ideally one from each day from 4/20-4/26/22. I'm picturing this as a single envelope after the week is over.
-follow the prompts if you want to
-write notes about your drawings, at a minimum the date and subject/prompt
-don't make them less than a square inch each, to keep this fair
-have fun!!!

I prefer to do collages - mini ones - is that OK? I never participate in these because I hate drawing, but I love creating mini collages.

Sorry I didn't see this until now! But if you still signed up, I think that would be all right.

Made all but one doodle today and was having the time of my life. XD I hope you will host this swap again!
