My very best friend since Jr. High School is currently going thru chemo for breast cancer. Today is chemo treatment #7 of 8. Then double mastectomy and radiation to follow. This is very personal for me and I would love to participate!

what a wonderful idea!!! I hope you do this again later,or maybe just a cancer one in general, I am at my limit right now.

I'm new here and not sure I can get something out by the March 30. I just wanted to say what a wonderful swap this is. My mother had surgery for breast cancer and will be undergoing 6 months of chemo and then 6 weeks of radiation. Hopefully next time I can participate but for now I'll watch.

My mom had breast cancer for 10 years (she died 9 years ago this month) and I still miss her terribly - She had a truly aggressive type of cancer - and it was a long battle for her! I hope that one day - we won't have to have cancer awareness - go researchers and doctors!!

We lost my mom to breast cancer four years ago this month, March 27th. Hers was aggressive as well... It was a long, tiring battle for my mom too, honeybono! She is still missed so much!

Anything to do with awareness.... I'm in!

Could you extend the send date to after April 1st? I have breast cancer now and on the 25th I am going in for a double mastectomy. I would really love to join this but need a longer time to get it ready and mailed. Maybe my partner won't mind if I am a week late. Will that be okay?

I have been an xray tech for 18 years, doing Mammography almost exclusively for 10,averaging 1,000 exams per year and could not have made a better career choice. Although no one wants to have that yearly mammogram (I feel like a pariah sometimes) it is a very rewarding job being an integral part of saving lives every single day. I have cried with women I met 20 minutes before after a Radiologist tells them it looks suspicious for malignancy and have cried with them as their fears are relieved because it was only a cyst or overlapping tissue and they get good news. A day never goes by that I don't have at least one of my ladies say 'I bet you hate doing this, looking at boobs all day', I just smile and say I could be cleaning out septic tanks for a living but the truth is I wouldn't change it for the world and my bet would be that YOUR regular mammo tech feels the same way. Our quality films save lives every day by detecting breast cancer in it's most curable stages so PLEASE do your monthly self breast exams and have that yearly mammo, mwe really are glad to see you. To those ladies going through recovery or supporting a loved one, blessings be unto you and never give up.

kimberlym322 03/20/2009 #

I have a few aunts that are survivors.

***just want to know if everyone in the swap reads books? I am doing a homemade bookmark. It turned out really good.

I don't usually look at "all" swaps; I mostly look up specific catagories. Today was different . Both my mother and twin sister died of breast cancer. Yesterday, March 21, would have been my mother's birthday; it is also the day my twin died 18 years ago. She was buried the day before our 46th birthday (March 25). I am a 14 yr survivor and my daughter-in-law is a 5 yr survivor of BC. I hope and pray that my granddaughters and grandson( men get it,too) are spared the threat of this terrible desease and all cancers. My sister taught me how to live with adversity. She lived for 9 yrs with BC and each day with a smile and a zest for life. My thoughts and prayers go out to all, patients and their family and friends. My husband claims I will buy anything that has a pink ribbon on it! My God bless you all.

heartbreaker 03/31/2009 #
