Description:

Oh, hello! What a surprise to see you here, I wasn't expecting you today! Oh, me? I'm not doing much, just hanging out here in Bubastis, worshipping Bastet. You should know, since you are also here in Bubastis, right in the Nile River Delta. Also it's Ancient Egypt.

Bastet, or Bast (really, it's got a glottal stop in the middle, and the t at the end wouldn't have been pronounced) is the cat goddess we all know and love. The counterpart of the lioness Sekhmet, she eventually evolved to be the goddess of pregnancy and childbirth, as well as a protector against illness and disease. Cats do hunt vermin, after all. And she looks like a domestic cat -- usually a black cat's head on a woman's body, or a black cat adorned with jewelry.

For this swap, you will be making your partner one Bast ATC. BUT there is a challenge! You must use at least one of the following items on your ATC: felt, string or cord, lace, shiny gold or silver scrapbook paper, a rhinestone or rhinestones.

Got it? Good. Well, time to go back to the cat festival. Can't wait to see your purr-fect art!

Bastet Wiki Article.

Rules

  • 1 ATC for 1 partner, extras not necessary but not actively discouraged

  • standard ATC rules: 2.5" x 3.5", sturdy backing, send in a protective sleeve. Please include the swap name, your username, and the date on the back. I think it's also fun to sign them/receive them signed, but this is not required. If you do not sign, please write your first name and last initial as well.

  • make sure Bast is hand-made by you in some way. Any medium is acceptable, and the background can include collage elements, be totally hand-drawn, etc. Please take your time and make something you'd like to receive!

  • you must include one of the challenge materials listed above! Feel free to use as many of those elements as you like, but only one is needed to meet requirements.

  • portrait or landscape orientation are both acceptable

  • 4 weeks to create and send, though because this is not profile-based, you may start early and ship it out once you have your partner!

  • please rate a 5 if the card you receive meets the requirements. Give a heart if you love it.

  • if there is any chance your envelope exceeds one ounce or will get classed as a small first class package, please make sure you add sufficient postage.

  • If you will be late for any reason, please message both me and your partner as soon as you can. MM&L always angels for flaked swaps, but we haven't had one yet! If you have an emergency, take care of it and we'll work it out after.

If you have any questions, please message me directly. Thanks for reading!

P.S. - Ancient Egypt #1 was Anubis. Ancient Egypt #2 was Osiris and Isis as a set. This card (Bastet) is Ancient Egypt #3.
