This electronic swap takes place right here on Swap-bot. We'll post and chat in the group thread called "What's My Logline?"

What is a logline? Here's a quick definition:

"A log line or logline is a brief (usually one-sentence) summary of a television program, film, or book that states the central conflict of the story."

Here are a few examples. Can you name the work?

  • "Set in a dystopian future, a woman is forced to live as a concubine under a fundamentalist theocratic dictatorship."

  • "A high school chemistry teacher diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer turns to manufacturing and selling methamphetamine in order to secure his family's future."

  • "Competition between the maid of honor and a bridesmaid, over who is the bride's best friend, threatens to upend the life of an out-of-work pastry chef."

You may have heard a logline referred to as an elevator pitch or a blurb. To learn more about them, head over to FilmDaily.TV for both examples and a primer on creating one.

After that: write your own compelling logline for your 2022 NaNo project and post it in the group forum.

Stumped on the three examples? The answers are in the group forum thread.
