Description:

The GREAT Orphan Block Swap

This is an Orphan Block swap ~ an orphan block is a quilt block that doesn’t have a quilt to go into. If you’ve been quilting and swapping for a while than you might have one or many of these extra blocks that you don’t know what to do with. Well this swap is for you!

You will have two partners for this swap. You will send TWO blocks to TWO people, so this swap is a FOUR BLOCK commitment. This is an INTERNATIONAL Swap (These pieces will be lightweight and easily mailed.)

Square Details:

•The squares can be any measurement. If you have size preferences please comment them below, however, remember this is an ORPHAN block swap and the person who is assigned to send to you might not have that size in their stash so please be kind.

•If you have a fabric color choice, comment about it below. Again, please remember that the SENDER is sending blocks from their orphan stash and may not have the color of your choosing in their stash. But don’t worry, I’ll be doing this swap monthly and you will always have the chance to try again!

•Senders, please check in the comments below and try to honor COLOR requests by your partner, if they have one, it will be listed. Also, it would be kind to check their profile for further suggestions.

•Please try to send only 100% cotton. This is a quilting swap afterall, so your orphans should mostly be made up of cotton blocks.

Swap Details:

•You must have a rating of at least 4.8, with no recent no-sends. If you think you've been unfairly rated, let me know, and we can discuss it.

•This swap will be open to newbies , as long as they have a well filled-out profile and message me for approval (and yes, I'll check.)

•You will have a MONTH to complete each round.

•This swap will go on each month of 2009.

Also, this swap is perfect for RE-SWAPPING quality blocks that simply don’t match your color preferences or size requirements.

This is not a place to DUMP YOUR JUNK! I know that we’ve all received a block or two that has been poorly made, and that is unfortunate, but those swappers are usually not sewers and are just trying something new out. Let’s be kind, encourage new sewers into the fold ~ but please don’t pass these blocks on. Count that as another point for your good Karma!

Lastly, if you do elect to RE-SWAP please give credit where credit is due, and put the original makers name on the block.

Any questions, post them here, or message me.

I think I might like this but I am a new sewer so I think I will watch this swap for a little bit and try out my blocks.

This should be fun! With two quilters in our house, I just sorted through and found so many UFO's that I had totally forgotten about. Let's pull 'em together!

Quilters are very forgiving people so I am going to try this one.

Can't believe there are only us three in this swap.

I'm going to send out some emails for the next version of this swap and try to drum up some more interest!
