Favorite Fall or Halloween Memory

One of my favourite childhood autumnal memory is walking to primary school with my friends through our local woodland path. There are many trees along the area and during autumn the leaves start changing into the most beautiful orange, red, yellow and copper tones. Squirrels were often seen looking for acorns on the ground. There was also a well known and adored community cat who would walk up and down the path with us, he loved all the attention! On the way home from school we used to collect conkers and pine cones that had fallen off the branches and I would take them home with me. My mum would put the conkers in a bowl and put them in the living room as she is terrified of spiders and they are supposed to repel them from the house. I would paint and put glue on the pine cones, and sprinkle them in different coloured glitter. My mum would display them on the fireplace and she still has two of them kept until today and they come out of storage every Christmas.

My favourite Halloween memory is probably winning a fancy dress competition as a child, dressed as a witch. There was a great Halloween party in my local community centre, and I won a selection of sweets and had my picture taken by a journalist to be included in my town’s Welsh language weekly newspaper. I also hosted my own Halloween house party a few years ago which was fun too!👻

I absolutely LOVE Fall and Halloween! My favorite memory is trick or treating as a kid. Here in West Virginia the fall leaves had such vivid colors of red, orange and yellow and the crunching of the leaves when we would walk to the school bus and especially during trick or treat. I remember my Mom making my brother and I handmade costumes and we had a very tiny little community building a few streets over that put on a Halloween party and costume contest. My brother and I won with our Sesame street costumes one year, I remember I was the Grouch but I was so young I forget what my brother was. But just those pleasant memories that just wash over me every Fall is just the best!

I got married to my husband on Nov 11 and it was actually a pretty nice day for it! Also we went to Mackinac island and did the carriage ride and the little butterfly exhibit. I have been to Mackinac island before but it's always a neat place to go to! This year I am enjoying have the windows open while I ride a stationary bike and watch YouTube travel videos!

One of my favorite fall memories was a weekend girls trip to Connecticut a few years ago. My two friends did many things in the Hartford area, but my favorite thing we did was go apple picking at an orchard. The next day, we made Apple Cinnamon pancakes with the apples we picked!

We also had the chance to visit Old Lyme and Mystic, CT and even got some Mystic Pizza! Yum! And not to mention, we stayed in an ADORABLE little cottage with loft accessible by ladder. It was a really fun trip with my girl friends.

My Favorite Halloween Memory One of my favorite Halloween memories is about a black cat named Black. He was the porch kitty of my good friend Dorothy Lynch. He was a big tomcat, and of course, being black, one did not want him out on Halloween. Sadly, there are those that would harm black cats. But Black was having none of that. He loved Halloween. It was his day. So, every year when Halloween rolled around, he would be out on the porch supervising, and helping Dorothy hand out candy. He peered into each child’s bag, and made sure that they got extra goodies if they needed them. He always meowed that Halloween was made for black cats. Both my friend Dorothy and he have long since crossed the Rainbow Bridge. But each Halloween I think of them fondly.
