Description:

For many, much of who we are is shaped by the things our parents told us when we were children. This is about Dear Old Dad. My dad told me to be kind if I wanted to keep friends or a husband, to apologize when I was wrong, to hold the paintbrush like a man!, to...but wait for the postcard!

Let's share the important things our fathers told us that have in some way shaped our lives, in honor of Father's Day on June 21.

In this swap you will have three partners. Send 1 postcard to each. Postcards can be any image that in some way relates to fatherhood or the home or childhood.

Postcards are to be sent "naked" (written on and stamped). Newbies are welcome with a filled-out profile and oldies must have a rating higher than 4.8.

Don't forget to put your Swap-bot name and the name of the Swap on your postcard. Happy Swapping!

This is such a beautiful idea. My father just past away on May 9, 2009. I was looking to do something to remember him. This is a great way to honor him and his memory.

I would like to do this but finding a dad related postcard seems challenging

Alwayschic, I think what you write about your dad is more important than what the picture is on the postcard. But if you want to match, stretch a little: For instance I could use any PC with trees or apples or vegetables, because my Dad has an orchard and garden. He also loves puzzles, cars, and animals...the possibilities are really endless. Good luck, you can do it!

Can postcards be handmade, or do they need to be bought?

chrissy32 05/29/2009 #

They can be handmade or store-bought, whatever you'd like to send. What would Dad suggest?

Hi! I featured this swap on the Swap-bot blog today. Great idea for Father's Day.

Thanks, Rachel!

Might be hard to find a post card celebrating Dads (they don't really do that here in Korea) but this would be a great swap none the less.

The postcard doesn't have to directly relate to Dad's other than in a peripheral sense. Read my post on 5/22 above. Additionally, it is most important what you write on back. Have fun!
