Description:

Celebrate the shared history of independence from British colonialism by participating in this postcard swap! This swap is all about honoring our countries’ journeys to freedom and showcasing the unique aspects of our cultures. Participants will send postcards that feature something representative of their country—whether it’s a national landmark, a cultural symbol, traditional attire, or anything that highlights the beauty of your nation.

As Malaysia’s Independence Day is on August 31st, I thought that it’s a particularly fitting time to create this global exchange and share the pride we feel in our countries’ rich histories.

Canada is not typically included in the list of countries that gained independence from British colonialism in the same way as other nations. This is because Canada's path to independence was a gradual and relatively peaceful transition to full sovereignty rather than a single event marked by a specific declaration of independence or decolonization struggle.

However, I am allowing you Canadians to join this swap if you wish to acknowledge this unique path to independence.

Hey, you're right! After some reading, I learned that America was also a British colony, so you're welcome to join this swap :)
