Description:

I got tired of wondering about how to make my own wire ring with beads like you see on Flickr, so I thought... why not try to make a swap of it. :)

In this swap I want to make it as easy as possible, so we'll all have just one (1) partner each and we'll have to make one(1) ring total. Senders choice. I figured it would relieve some stress there, lol.

If you are a pro at this, you are sooo lucky, lol, but if you are like me...hoping for a good turn out on the first try, then this is the swap for you, lol. Add beads whether pre-made or hand made to them to make them even prettier. Newbies are welcome, BUT I will be checking those profiles and will band if necessary. I would rather not angel, but will if need be, so please do not join if you feel you are unsure. That would be most appreciated :)

Please feel free to earn those wonderful "hearts" by possibly making more than one or by looking at there profile :) and please make one for "yourself" too. I know I will be, lol.

It can be on copper wire or if you choose to have it on silver or even those colored wires, please do so. Remember, it's senders choice. So have fun as you learn with me, lol.

Soooo to recap, it's one (1) ring for one (1) partner with it being senders choice. Also please do not forget to mark what swap this is coming from, because many of us are multi-swappers, lol. That way no one gets confused. ok.

Hope everyone has fun!!!!

I've been making these rings for years, I believe I learned from "All Wired Up" by Mark Lareau, but it could also have been "Moods in Wire" by Ellsworth Sinclair. What you do is take about 10" of wire, place a bead in the center and bend the ends of the wire at a 90 degree angle on each end of the bead. Then you wrap each end of the wire around a mandrel at 1/2 size larger than you want the finished piece. Once the ends come back to the front, wrap them around the bead and then do 2-3 wraps around the wire coming out of the bead. I've probably made it sound complicated, but it's really easy. WigJig.com has some tutorials for different styled rings and they're a great place to buy the wire. I also found this: http://www.craftbits.com/viewProject.do?projectID=1597 on CraftBits.com.

How will you know what size to make? Although the wire is pliable to some extent, you wouldn't want the ring bent all out of shape?

We after I had posted this swap....then did it dawn on my "what about the size" and all I thought of sofar was maybe make it an average size of what ever size we recieve, we can use the ring on what we feel. Does this make sence? Any other suggestions?

Can't you just ask your partner what size ring they'd like/have them post in the comment section here? I'm a tad confused here.

CroLaneyL 08/14/2009 #

that would be fine with me or if you'd rather not have a ring to wear then you can make a ring charm. Sorry for all the confusion I've caused.
