Description:

This swap will give you the opportunity to meet 3 people from around the world. You will write a letter by answering the questions below. So the letter for all 3 people will be the same EXCEPT for your answer to the last 2 questions. Those will be different for each person.

Since you can write your letter now and add your answers to the last questions right before you put your letters in the mail, I've made this a quick deadline. I'm hoping that we will all find someone we have something in common with we can keep in contact with over the summer, and beyond.

Everyone is welcome to join this swap, even newbies. ;-) But, I see no-sends in your profile, I may ask you to leave.

Now...on to the questions!

  1. What are your hobbies?

  2. If you could be doing anything at all right now (money not an issue), what would you be doing?

  3. What topics do you most enjoy discussing or learning about?

  4. What is most important to you?

  5. What book(s) are you reading now (or have read recently or plan to read) that you are most excited about?

  6. Where would you like to take your next vacation? What would you do while on vacation?

  7. If you could snap your fingers and change one thing about your life, what one thing would you change?

  8. What are some of your favorite things to receive in the mail?

  9. Looking at your partner's profile, what do you see that you have in common?

  10. What is one (or more) thing you would like to learn from/about your partner?

You will need to have your profile filled out in order for your partner to respond to the last two questions, so make sure you have a lot of information about yourself.

Be honest when you answer these questions. Maybe there's nothing you would change about your life, or maybe you don't like to read or discuss. That's ok. Just say so. If you don't have anything in common with your partner, you can say so. I know that it may be hard to tell depending on the information people leave in their profiles.

After receiving your letters, you may choose, if you want to, to send a letter back and a little goodie from the list the person made for question 8. This is not a requirement.

Have fun!

This sounds fun. I also have hosted a couple of letter writing swaps (On A Mission, and Missions Trip letter and ATC) but I haven't had many sign up for it. I have my letters ready to swap. I like the idea of getting to meet 3 people from around the world.

AshleyShea 06/ 3/2007 #

Star of Song, just to clarify, you can't have your letters ready to swap yet. You MUST answer the 10 questions above as part of your letter. Plus, you can't answer the last 2 questions until you know who you are matched with. Those answers come as a response of looking at your partner's profile.

If you have any questions about how this swap works, please post them. I want to make sure everyone understand what is expected.

user8641 06/ 3/2007 #

Let me just make sure I understand this. We are to write a letter and incorporate the answers to all this questions into the letter? So we're not just sending the answers to the questions. They're part of a letter, correct?

Also, is the letter to be a particular length?

AshleyShea 06/ 3/2007 #

Hi, TulipsandLilacs! What a cool name!

You can do either one of the options you described. You can just answer the questions, or you can write a letter with the answers to the questions in it. No specific length is required.

The more information you give about yourself, the more likely someone will be to respond. They'll have a chance to see that you have something in common and will be inspired to write back.

user8641 06/ 3/2007 #

Thanks for answering my questions!! :o) Sounds like fun!

SueFitz 06/ 6/2007 #

I'm sending my letters out in Monday's mail. Three people will have something in their mailboxes this coming week other than bills! ;-)

junemoon 06/17/2007 #

AshleyShea, having questions to answer is a great way to get a letter off the ground, thanks for coming up with them. I wrote most of my letter shortly after I signed up and now I'm adding the personal notes to my partners. The letters will go out tomorrow early a.m. to Cricket, Nellbe and PostMuse. I'll mark it "sent" once they're in the clutchs of the P.O.

Kittenmeowmeow -- my letters were typed. I wanted them to be handwritten, at least the last two questions -- but I ended up having to go out of town on a business trip at last minute. So I saved time and typed/printed them.

Goodyfourshoes deleted her account. anyone receive a letter from her?

AshleyShea 07/ 5/2007 #

Kitten, she posted on 6/24 that she mailed out her letters. Did you get yours?

I went to her page before her account was deleted. She had a major virus on her computer and she wasn't able to sign in here without a lot of hassle. I hope she mailed her letters when she said she did.

user8111 07/14/2007 #

Anybody else NOT get anything from Frogman? He's flaked on many of his other swaps so I'm not surprised that I didn't get a letter from him.
