Objectives

To make 16 Square Inchies with a theme of your choice into a 4" x 4" Square puzzle. One puzzle for one Partner.

  • Your theme will stretch across all the squares from one side to the other side of your 4" x 4" square working surface.

  • You can either place your pre-cut Inchies next to each other as you work, (I normally use painter's tape to hold pre-cut Inchies together while I work.)

  • Or, start with a 4" x 4" square that you will cut into 1" squares once you have completed the puzzle picture. Remember Square...

  • When starting with a blank 4" x 4" solid square .. I will first use my ruler to carefully measure and draw my lines for the 1" squares on the back. Then number across 1-16 in each square so that your puzzle has a solution. If you use pre-cut Inches remember to number the backs. This is required..

  • Then turn your 4" x 4" square over and begin you puzzle picture. (Card stock works great, use something heavier than drawing paper)

  • At this point, think of a theme.. Realistic, abstract, doodle..it's up to you.. I normally use like items.. such as toys, tools, flowers, hot air balloons, or a landscape or still life. You want your picture to fill the area and not have a bunch of dead space with nothing in it.

  • NO.. you may not fill the space with a stickers, stamps, or a photo and call it done but they may be used to Embellish your picture. Produce quality work that you would love to receive.

  • Think outside of the box…with a pencil drawing, markers, ink, painting, collage or what ever is needed to produce quality work. You can combine techniques or use just one..

BORING BUT NECESSARY RULES! By joining the swap, you agree to making a quality 16 Square Inchie Puzzle which will be posted on time.

Non senders will be banned from future swaps. And posted on every Flaker list available.

You must have a 4.85 rating or higher to participate. No 3’s or 1’s in the last 3 months. At least 5 completed mail swaps (i.e not e-swaps). No newbies this time.

I reserve the right to ban anyone from the swap, if I feel they will not be able to fulfill the swap criteria.

No flakers! If you see a known Flaker sign up, please let me know and I will contact them. I'd rather lose a Flaker than a bunch of good swappers.

If you feel you have an unfair rating contact me and explain.

Note this is an International Swap - expect an overseas partner!

I did this project with my high school art students and they LOVED it. So, start now and have fun.. Hearts to be given at your discretion.

Can we use rubber stamps to make the puzzle picture? It's says you can't use stamps, do you mean postage stamps?

snowqueen1426 09/ 3/2009 #

Great questiona....Yes.. you can use postage stamps.. rubber stamps, stickers. Glitter,, collage.. what ever...but add something with it.. so that the space is filled. Or if you want to draw, paint, what ever.. Basically we are trying to keep from having just one sticker/one postage stamp/one rubber stamp.. and someone calling it done..

No problem, thanks :)

I have added some pictures to my flickr to show some more of these puzzles.. Another idea is to use a stencil.. and repeat your design in some way..

This looks like fun. I won't have time to do this one so I hope there's another one!

Well, we have a nice group here.. and I want to thank you all for joining.. I will be assigning partners soon and just have some reminders.. Please mail out our Inchies by the deadline Sept 30th. Please rate your partner. Check the guidelines for rating. You are not rating your partner on weather or not you like what you received or anything extra that may be sent.... Ratings are important because some new people will need to build up their ratings just to join other swaps. When you receive your package please rate your partner in a timely manner.. Happy Swapping!
