UPDATE!!!::: I also wanted to make sure that everyone starts their journal on October 1st. It's going to be daily 6 months from October 1st to April 1st. It isnt profile based, but it isnt something you can start working on ahead of time. Each entry has to be dated daily from October 1st to April 1st. :) I'm so excited about this swap!!

I am in love with journaling swaps! I just finished a week in my life journal swap and had so much fun learning about my partner’s everyday life, I felt like I knew her by the end of the week.

With this swap, it is very simple. You will have 6 months to keep a journal of your life. What I would like to see happen, is you must fill a journal that is at LEAST 100 pages (it is always ok to go above and beyond) front and back, this can be a notebook, journal, whatever you find that feels right for you. I would love to see you at least make a small entry into the journal everyday. These can be a recap of your day, or more. At least one day of the week, I want you to set down and really write something deep, it can be something that has been on your mind in the past week, something that recently happened, something in the current world events that you feel passionate about, something in a book, movie, or TV show that really touched you. Make this entry really meaningful to you, and to help your partner really learn who you are. You can also add drawings, quotes, images, recipes, jokes, anything else that you want to the journal. The goal is though, to write something in this journal each day for 6 months, and then send to your partner. If you want, one of your entries for the week can be something from a journaling prompt website rather than just your day. If you chose to do that, please indicate that on the page, and what the prompt was. The goal is to write something down everyday for your partner, and to fill this journal with as much as you can about yourself.

One more thing I really want to see with these journals, is please use the very first page of your journal to write about yourself. "Hi my name is..." type of thing, and also that this is for the 6 month journal swap. Also, on the last page, I would like to see you write something about what writing this journal made you feel.

Who can join? Everyone! This is a really big commitment, I really don’t want to see anyone flake as I cant angel on this for people who flake. It is going to be allot of work, you have to really want to write a journal and share yourself with someone else in order to make this work. If you are a newbie, and you really want to join, please message me and we will discuss it. I don’t want to ban anyone, if you want to join but have a no send or a recent 1 or 3, please message me and we will talk about it. This is going to be a really fun swap and I want everyone to join in on it if they want. But it is going to be over a 6 month period, we are talking a 200 written page minimum. So really think it through! Oh, and it will be open to international, but please make sure you have a good command of the english language, we wouldnt want your partner to put out so much effort to make their journal and then get one in return they have trouble understanding, also same goes for everyone, please try to write nicely so your partner can easily understand what you are sharing with them.

I will give you a week after the 6 month deadline to get it sent out as well.

Please message me or leave comments here (I will check them often) If you have questions, suggestions, or concerns! :) Thanks everyone, have fun!!

Wow..6mths is too long for me. Perhaps 3mths. I'm neither disciplined nor interesting enough for 6mths. Have a great swap! Best wishes-jillian

I'm watching this swap for now. I'm a newbie so if I decide to join I'll send you a message. I love journalling, though recently i've not been doing it, 6 months is a big commitment I must say. But it seems like such a cool experiment to have such a big look into someone else's life. This is a great idea.

GoingTwinsane 09/ 9/2009 #

I'll go for it. I am wondering though...can it be typed? I journal on my computer. If not that's fine. Handwritten anything is almost a lost art.

RecipePC 09/10/2009 #

I am also wondering if these daily journal entries could be written on postcards. I love writing postcards and have so many that it might be fun to write someone 180 different postcards and then mail all of these together at the same time. Just an idea up for discussion.

Jesshens1125 09/10/2009 #

Well girls, you all pose interesting questions. I want your "journal" to be completely you. I want it to reflect you as much as possible. So if you want to type your entries, that is fine, as long as you can print them out and but them into some kind of "book" formate. Maybe put them into a binder or something like that. However, I would like to still see you hand write some of your entires, or at least have something in your journal hand written as well. As far as making your daily entires on postcards, thats a unique and fun idea, as long as you can put them into some kind of book formate in the end, and also maybe do your one "longer" entry for the week hand written on a sheet of paper. Do whatever you feel would be fun and reflect you as a person. As long as i the end, you are pasing along some kind of "journal" for your partner to have.

Good luck, and have fun! I am excited to see so many people interested already!

Thanks for the swap! I am really excited! I bought a new journal & some great markers/pens just for the project!

AlyxBee 09/11/2009 #

I am watching this, If I can get a good journal to use for it by the end of this month I will more than likely join, but otherwise I am not sure. If you do a round two at the end of this one I am almost def up for that one!

lovgrlchanel 09/12/2009 #

This is so the kind of swap I've been looking for. I love to journal. Doing it every day will be a challenge but I think it'll be good for me. :)

Jesshens1125 09/14/2009 #

Rudexvirus~ Try Staples! I have been looking for good journals for a hecka long time and couldnt find any, I went to STaples over the weekend and they had AWESOME slection! :) Also, sometimes, some Ross's have a good selection. This weekend mine didnt, lol but sometimes! :) Good luck, I hope you are able to join. Also, you know just a notebook would be fine to. Whatever you want that you feel relfects who you are.

nobelli 09/14/2009 #

Great idea, but I don't think I could keep it up for six months.... mostly because I keep my own art journal too, and I'd get bored with the duplication. Perhaps for someone like me sending a copy of their personal art journal would be acceptable?

Boupie 09/17/2009 #

Is it possible to start early. I will still do it for the whole time but I would love to get moving on this so I know it is established by the start date. I am watching for now, thanks for this cool idea!

Jesshens1125 09/18/2009 #

I would really rather everyone start journaling on October 1st. You are welcome to start your introduction page now, but as far as the day to day journaling. I would like everyone to start the journal on the same day, October 1st. Thanks

aquarelledream 09/19/2009 #

I've been thinking for months that I want to start an art journal and this is exactly the thing to get me started. I've also been struggling to get back to daily journalling and for that this will also be fantastic. It'll be difficult to give up the journal after six months, but that's what scanner is for :)

sapphirefaery81 09/20/2009 #

I am interested in doing a swap like this, but unsure if I'd really be interested in doing it for six months. I'd probably be more inclined to sign up if it was for a shorter time, like 2-3 months. Maybe someone could start one up for a 3 month time frame?

Jesshens1125 09/21/2009 #

A few people have mentioned that they would be more interested in doing a journal that was only 3 months long. I have been thinking about starting up a swap that is for 3 months. If you would be more interested in that, please send me a message here on swap-bot and let me know. i would be happy to host it. I love journaling!! :)

Mistlily 09/23/2009 #

I would be interested in a 2-3 month journal. 6 months is such a long period of time. This is a FANTASTIC idea and would be a wonderful sociological experiment for a thesis.

Ky 09/23/2009 #

I too would be interested in a shorter version of this swap. After 6 months I wouldn't want to send my journal away...there would be too much of "me" in it! :-) I think a fun project would be keeping a journal every day for 1 month, send it to someone else, they continue in it for another month and then send it along again. After 6 months of that you send it back to the original person so everyone gets theirs back with a months worth of entries from others. It would be sad though if someone flaked and you didn't get yours back!

Jesshens1125 09/23/2009 #

Ky: I LOVE that idea!! I think I am going to get something like that in the works! If it isnt something you would want to host yourself. :) Great Idea!

rainshine 09/23/2009 #

Ky: I love that idea too! I like the sound of this swap but since I already keep a personal journal, writing two would be too much and I'd probably get bored. But that passing round idea is great!

sjonsmom 09/24/2009 #

Ky - great idea! If anyone does that please let me know!!!

Ky 09/24/2009 #

I'm too new to Swap-Bot, I don't want to host a swap yet...but if someone else hosts one like I described...I will join in!

aquarelledream 09/24/2009 #

I would also patricipate in such a swap Ky described (I can even help host it in alternate months or something to ease the load for one host).

Whoever takes up the hosting duties could also do as me and my swap partner are going to do in a personal journal collaboration and leave some unfinished pages (decoration-wise) or questions or prompts for the next one who writes in the journal or decide on some monthly themes that everyone must include somewhere in their entries :) The results would be amazing! And all flakers would be poked with safetypins.

Ravycat3 09/24/2009 #

finally i find come accross something like this.great idea!

Jesshens1125 09/24/2009 #

Ok gals (and guys?) You all talked me into it! I am going to host the journaling swap that Ky suggested. It is too wonderful of an idea to pass up. I am also going to take in some of aquaelledream's ideas for the swap too. It might be a few days before I get it up, I need to figure somet hings out, as well as a time line. My biggest concern is tho, that people will drop from this swap and join the others. I still really really want to carry on with this 6 months jounral swap, I dont want to create the new on in place of this one, and I dont want to lose the swapers that I already have here. I hope that dosent happen, but this new idea is too good to let go without doing something. Hopfully we can run both.

Godsrockangel 09/25/2009 #

I'm in the middle of a round robin swap so I've decided that I can't do this one this time round - can you keep me posted on the next one?

Jesshens1125 09/25/2009 #

I am in that same round robin swap godsrockangel. In fact you are the person i send to. lol It's been a blast! Maybe you can get in on the journaling roud robin I am going to start sometime in the next month! :)

Snason 09/27/2009 #

I think Ky's idea is great, along with the one month of journaling we should make art pages say once a week do a art page so 4 art pages from one person within the journal,. I would really like to see different kinds of techniques and such from around the world.

Jesshens1125 09/30/2009 #

Tomorrow is the day! We start journaling tomorrow!! I am so excited everyone! Thanks for taking part in this swap! It is going to be alot of fun!

Jesshens1125 09/30/2009 #

I am going to move the signup deadline up to today, that way everyone will be ready to start journaling tomorrow and there wont be any confusion. Nothing that you are doing is profile based, but just the same if we have to start journaling tomorrow, I dont want people still be signing up tomorrow too.

I am excited, I hope everyone enjoys this swap!! :)

mellyrose89 10/ 3/2009 #

I'm working on it right now =D

aquarelledream 10/22/2009 #

I'm loving making my journal so much! I hope all the others are feeling as inspired as I am :)
