Description:

I'm coming up on my one year anniversary, and I'm feeling nostalgic for all the drama I was wrapped up in last year at this time. So this swap is to reminisce about 'your big day'. Write a letter (2 page minimum) about your wedding day: the stresses, trials, tribulations, happiest moments. What went exactly as planned? What fell apart? What were you thinking as you walked down the aisle? To what song did you have your first dance? What traditions did you follow, and which ones did you break? Any regrets? If you had it to do over again, what would you absolutely not change?

In addition to the letter, include a picture from your wedding day (it doesn't have to be of you, if you're a shy person. It can be of the cake or the flowers or whatever you want to represent your day), and include a trinket from the day like your program, a napkin, the invitation, or just a little something that symbolizes the day to you.

Only those with a 4.5 rating or higher allowed. This is international.

What a fun idea! Happy first anniversary to you, chickpea! :)

Thanks, Hoopsielv! I've been wanting to make a wedding time capsule to open on our tenth anniversary ever since we got married, but so far I haven't put anything together for it. (Except for a bottle of wine to go inside it that we bought on our honeymoon. I mean, I've got my priorities straight! Tee hee!) I'm hoping this might inspire me to get things in order, and I can put a copy of my letter into the time capsule.

Hi Congratulations on your first anniversary, one down and many more to come.
Would love to join. Have been married 42 years and my wedding day is still fresh as new to both of us. The best thing that ever happened to me except the birth of our 3 children and our grandson.

Chickpea 06/12/2007 #

Thanks, Mildred! You should join us! After 42 years of marriage, obviously you know how to do it right!

I eloped.. I don't have any baubles to send, no napkins or anything.. hmm.

Chickpea 06/16/2007 #

Selise, you could just send something reminiscent of your wedding day. For example, if you eloped in Vegas you could send a deck of cards or poker chips... Or if after you eloped you went out to eat at an Italian restaurant, you could send a bag of bowtie pasta.

I've got the perfect idea. :) Thanks chickpea!

As I'm hunting around for this swap, I'm realizing I don't think I saved a program nor anything else like that.. would something from the honeymoon be appropriate? I'll understand if not... I really wish I could pawn off some of my wedding gifts that have not made it out of the box in 13 years... anyone interested in hi-ball glasses or an ice bucket with their swap? ;)

Chickpea 06/21/2007 #

That's hilarious, Hoopsielv, about the hi-ball glasses! Maybe I can send my partner the wedding-gift-blender that attacked me with smoothie! :) But seriously, I think something from your honeymoon would be fine. As long as it informs the experience in some way, that's all that matters.

i'd sign up for this one but i'm not getting married until the day after it ends. :) cute idea though.

This is really neat. I am getting ready to celebrate 20yrs with my hubby in August. Time sure flies when you are very busy having fun and the not so fun times. BUT I could or would never trade these past 20yrs for anything. Perhaps my MIL, but that is a whole other story. Congratuations chickpea!

Ok, I'm in as well!

Chickpea 06/23/2007 #

Partners are assigned, everyone! Happy swapping!

I had a family emergency come up, but I've put my letter in the box and it's going out tomorrow!
