Rounds 1 and 2 were awesome!!!

So here's Round 3!!

Please read the entire swap description before signing up, so that you know exactly what you are signing up for! :o)

Requirements: Send your partner at least 15 used books. They can be paperback or hardback. Pack them up in a box, and send the package Media Mail rate! This swap is restricted to the United States only because the boxes will be heavy and postage would be huge for international mailing.

This swap is for adult books, not children's books.

Please when you sign up, post a message to the swap thread that lists what genres you like to read, and what you don't like. Your partner isn't required to send you specific titles, authors or types of books because they might not be available at their local thriftstore or used bookshop. But please --- if your partner lists that they don't like romance novels don't send them an entire box of old Harlequins. Send out a package you would enjoy receiving!

You can get your books at whatever venue you prefer for used books (thrift shop, used bookstore, library sale, or your own "already read'' bookshelf)......look for books you think your partner would enjoy. PLEASE send books that aren't damaged....water damage, mold, ripped/missing/loose pages, spine damage, etc. Used condition is expected, but let's not send out obviously damaged sub-par books!!!

Please use Delivery Confirmation on your package. DC provides proof of mailing (date and time) AND the tracking number makes it easier for the postal system to trace and find stray packages. Media Mail does take just a bit longer because MM is only loaded on trucks when there is extra room.....so a DC# will also let your partner know when the box is coming so he/she knows when to start stalking their mail man. :) I have received some MM packages extremely quickly so delivery time can be varied. A DC# is a way to ensure that your partner knows his/her package is on its way, even if the post office takes extra time to actually deliver it.

Don't include anything in your package but the books. media mail rate packages can only include Media items like books. No notes, no tea.....nothing extra. The post office can inspect the packages to be sure they qualify as media mail. If anything is found besides books, your partner can be charged the extra postage or the package might be returned to you.

Have fun picking out some really cool books for your swap pal.....don't just grab a handful of old harlequins out of a 10 cent bin and call it done. Make it fun for yourself.....and your partner! Be discriminating!

PLEASE don't sign up for this swap if you are not absolutely sure you can send out a package on time. PLEASE don't flake out on your partner. PLEASE by all means join us if you LOVE to read, and LOVE finding great books at bargain prices, and if you LOVE to share books with friends!

Swappers must have at least a 4.8 rating to participate in this swap. No newbies, and swappers must have ratings for package swaps (email and postcards don't count). Those who have received any unexplained 1 ratings for no-sends in the past 6 months will be removed from the swap before partners are assigned. If you have some low ratings but can explain....message me and we can talk about it.

Any questions?? Message me!

Ok I have a list on my profile of books that I would like and haven't read. I will add more to it so you have plenty to choose from.

i'm watching for now and hoping I'll have enough money to do this again! If so, my favorite genre is fantasy. Since that isn't often at thrifty stores, I would love craft or cook books, random picture books, history novels, how too etc etc. I don't like true crime or really the fictional crime scene type books. That's really the only genre I don't like that I can think of. I'll read just about anything else, vampires and paranormal stuff is my fave!

yomousey -- your partner is not required to send you specific books from a list for this swap because those books might not be available at their local thrift shop or used book store. This swap only requires that they send you 15 used books. You can list your fav genres, fav authors, and a list of books to help them choose what they send. Maybe your partner will have good luck finding you some of the books on your list. But, you can't lower their rating from a 5 if none of the books on your list are send to you.

I read just about every genre but romance novels. My favorites are mysterys, non-gory thrillers, sci-fi, ghost stories and historical fiction (the real kind and not romance novels disguised as historical fiction). I enjoy paranormal/creepy sorta books too. It's almost Halloween....it's time for scary stuff!!! :o)

I like most every kind, except Harlequins or creepy ones. the more pages, or a series ,the better!

Jacpaint 09/23/2009 #

Could you do childrens books? Or is this just for adults?

JP 09/24/2009 #

This swap is for adult books, not childrens books.

I enjoy historical fiction (the kind that have great characters), good quality romance novels (read not too cheesy), an occasional mystery, and sci fi /fantasy that don't get too far out. I have a listing of my favorite authors on my page (just to give you an idea of the kind of stuff I have read). :D

Oops! I forgot to mention I do enjoy non-fiction also, in the form of diary's/journals, travel adventures, etc. Really anything as long as it's a good story.

I love romance, but something more substantial than harlequins like historical romance. I love vampire themed books (have read anne rice and working on anita blake series and christine feehan dark series). I generally don't read nonfiction except trivia books and funny humorous stories. I like fantasy and fairy tales. I don't read mysteries and I do have a tiny collection of cookbooks (nostly healthy). Feel free to check out my profile for more!

I've been on a chick-lit kick lately but I also like just plain popular fiction & cozy mysteries, especially British ones. Also read some sci-fi, historical fiction, bios/memoirs & non-fiction animal books. I'm not into vampire, horror or paranormal books. And I can only take romance books (unless they're more chick-litty) in small doses (LOL). No Harlequins or that sort, no westerns & nothing too gory - thanks!

I'm into a wide variety, but if I had to pick, though, I especially like: --classic British and American lit, --modern & classic African-American lit (Toni Morrison, Douglass, etc.), --modern judged-by-its-cover books that are all pretty on the outside (hey, it's how I discovered I love Melissa Banks!), --classic sci-fi (Asimov & Orson Scott Card, yes; Star Trek #5464, notsomuch), --non-fiction about crafting, flea market finds, cooking, urban planning, bicycling, politics, & women's issues, and --anything YOU have really loved if you tell me why. Yay books! I'm also registered at bookcrossing.com, so if you're into that, I'm happy to catch books. :)
