International: A simple photo swap. When I go over to someone's house, I always think that their house is so much tidier than mine, and then I realized that I always clean up before company comes over, so people who see my house probably think the same thing. Now is the time for confession: my house is pretty chaotic most of the time. I bet I'm not the only one, either. Take a picture of your mess; the one no one besides your family is ever supposed to see. It could be a picture of living room or office or craft room when it isn't cleaned up, or a picture of that space under your bed or the closet where you cram the extra stuff when company is coming over. Make three (3) copies of your picture. Make your pictures into postcards or stick them in envelopes. Write a little note to each of your partners and make sure to write that it is for "The Mess" swap on Swap-Bot and to include your Swap-Bot name so they can rate you when it arrives. Requirements: This is an international swap, so be sure you are OK to mail three postcards or envelopes to anywhere in the world. The turn around is really fast, so make sure you can make the deadline. This is a simple swap, so there is no minimum rating requirement. There won't be any angels for this swap.

Cooan: You should see my craft room right now! I have to stand on one foot to use my cutter without stepping on the piles of papers on the floor. Both of my chairs are piled so deep in paper that I can't see them. Getting into the craft room involves shimmying past the drum, which is piled with stuff, and hopping over a box to try to land in a foot square of clear space.

I need to take a photo for this swap tonight, then start cleaning up, or I won't be able to do any crafting!

Haha... I'm planning on cleaning my living room this week, so I'm going to take a picture of it tonight! It's absolutely disgusting! I seriously can't wait for this swap!

Since my experiment with the last voyeur swap went well, I am going to use the same process this time. Now that I know the postcards get through, I'll let everyone in on it.

I used Amazing Mail and my own photo. The postcards go out without "real" postage stamps, but I sent one to myself and they are nicely produced so perhaps people will forgive not having a real stamp on it. It cost me $1.12 for the the card and it was the same price for a card to Canada. So, that is more expensive than printing out my own photo, or having one developed, and sending it to my partner, but the ones from Amazing Mail come out so cool looking and you can write tons on the back. I am going to use this service lots when my first grandchild is born in October :-)

Cooan: We can do it from Canada, and for us, it is an incredible bargain! I bought 25 postcards, which I can use anytime in the next two years and mail as few as 1 at a time in a design (i.e., not all the postcards have to be the same or mailed at the same time), so the total was $1.02 US per card, including postage.

Since it costs about $0.98 Cnd (including GST) to mail to the US, and the US and Cnd dollar are close to on-par right now, I figure this is actually cheaper than printing and mailing my own postcards, and it saves me a lot of annoyance too, since I hate the photo editing software on Russ' computer, and only his computer is hooked up to the printer.

The only trick is that if you don't have a US credit card, you can't use their automatic payment form. But I just emailed them and they responded really quickly with a manual form to fill out with my credit card information, so it looks like it is good to go now.

Okay, my AmazingMail.com postcards are purchased and should be in tomorrow's mail, according to the site. Judging from the last time, going to Canada takes a bit of time, and two of mine are heading to Canada. Hope you all enjoy!

Again, I'm so sorry I goofed on your postage. I put the proper amount on it today and will get it back out in today's mail. I don't know what made me think I could get a letter to Israel using the standard US postage!
