Onomatopoeia!

This should be fun!

Quoting from Wikipedia: "Onomatopoeia is a word that imitates or suggests the source of the sound that it describes." So, you will be making an ATC choosing a word from the list below, which illustrates that sound, or what makes the sound. For instance, in the drawing above, I use a zipper to illustrate the sound "zip".

Here is the list:

snap meow ticktock hiccup boom slash whoosh

growl burp ribbet croak clap bang woof

splash zap bark roar rip slap buzz

moo zip crack quack rustle sizzle click

baa bam wham snort cheep crackle hiss

pop snip oink thud ugh tsk tinkle

splat achoo clank gurgle tweet beep honk

Ok, I know there are more, and I may add some to the list, but there are enough there to give you a good choice!

You will make 1 ATC for 1 partner, AND there must be something HAND DRAWN or PAINTED on the ATC. Other than that one requirement, please use any media or materials!

I received this note from a watcher, and I think the questions are good ones:

"i love the idea. i'm curious if you care if the atc goes along with the sound itself. i have this urge to make it manifest as what i interpret the sound to associate with. not always something actually 'making' the sound.

ex- gurgle makes me think of death & blood; snort- drugs; cheep- more a homonym as cheap. are these interpretations okay? or should it stick to the actual sound made by an animal/object/ect."

I think anything that indicates the sound (drug snorting does make a snort sound) as the source of the word is ok, just show something that would give that indication. Obviously a duck would quack, but other words aren't so obvious, as you noted. But not any homonyms at this time- that's would be another type of ATC down the road!
