Description:

Isn't it funny how sometimes when you're putting together a box for one swap, that it makes you think of another one you should do? That's what happened to me...I thought, wouldn't it be fun to do a swap where you only send yarn colors/balls/partial skeins that have a memory attached...hopefully good ones, but there could be some catharsis here too...and enclose, with the yarn, a note that explains the details. I know that two of my additions will be, a ball from the first skein I ever knit anything from (oh, yes, it's acrylic! lol) and a suri merino ball from a pair of baby booties I knit for my friend's first child. I just like the idea of sending warm fuzzies of both types--yarn and thoughts--or of helping someone find a place for some yarn that they don't want to see anymore, but needed it to go somewhere to someone who understood there were memories associated (boy is that a horrible grammar passage). Let's say international is okay (since they should be pretty lightweight), I'd hate to turn someone away who needed it. Send whatever you want, but please make it at least 2 skeins worth total, so that your recipient can do something. No no-sends, newbies with profile and a message. Anything else, or other suggestions? I'll give a fairly decent time length so people can really think about what they wish to send.

So they're not full skein, but partial skeins?

yes...and if it takes 6 small balls to make 2 skeins...or 8 balls (just so they're large enough to do something with...that is okay--the point is that they're yarns that you have a memory associated with--and that you send a note/letter explaining the memories

Hi, I think I understand this swap (I'm new to swaps so please be patient) but want to be sure that it is ok to send homespun yarn or several small balls left from a knitting project. I want to be sure my chosen recipient gets what he or she is expecting. Thanks for your answers. YARNPATCH!

yes, either homespun or small balls are fine. Some people may have whole skeins left over (bought 10 for a sweater, for instance, but used 9--so have 1 left over) but I would say the vast majority (myself included) are going to send small balls that together have about the same amount as you'd get with 2 full skeins. Homespun yarn is almost better than the other--the story is there from it's inception!
