Description:

In February, I joined a few other swappers in an unofficial blog version of Thing-A-Day. Our aim was to make something new each day that month, and post a picture and some words about it on our blog. It was such good fun, and I found it a great way to keep my creative juices flowing! I was chatting to @TangleCrafts the other day and we thought it would be fun to base a swap around the idea.

Instead of dedicating a whole month to the project, in this swap we will be making a thing each day for just seven days. You can choose any consecutive seven-day period that suits you between sign-up and send dates.

You will create one handmade item on each of your chosen seven days. Some ideas for things to create are: ATCs, postcards, drawings, paintings, collages, fabric items, embroidery, altered art, jewellery. Please don’t limit yourself to this list if you want to make any other kind of handmade item.

Choose one of the items you made during your seven days to send to your partner. Although you can make whatever items you like during the seven days, please read your partner's profile and be sure not to send anything your partner might be allergic to.

You will then be making a zine about your items. Since we will be making seven things, this swap lends itself very nicely to the eight-page mini-zine format, but you can make any size zine you like, as long as it features at least one page per item. The zine should include photos of your things, and you can write about how you made them, who they are for, what inspired you to make them, or any other information you like about each thing. Check out the threads in the group forum for links to zine making instructions and tutorials.

So, to summarise, here are the swap requirements:

  • Make one handmade item per day for seven consecutive days.
  • Author a zine about your seven-day crafting frenzy.
  • Send your zine plus one item you made during the seven days to your partner.

You already had to have a rating of 4.9+ with no recent no-sends, 1s or 3s to join this group anyway, so the same stands for this swap. But I will still double-check before assigning partners, so if you have what you feel is an unfair comment or rating, just PM me & we can try to work it out. :-)

Please communicate with your partner or myself if you run into any problems with this swap that might make you send late.

That’s it! Have fun!

Is it ok if some of the 7 things are things we are making for other swaps?

TangleCrafts 04/12/2010 #

I hope so! At least a couple of mine are... :-s

sunnysidey 04/13/2010 #

Yes, of course @crescendo :-)

I'll be assiging partners tomorrow, sorry for the delay folks :-)

Please feel free to join us on the Unofficial Thing-A-Day blog and post about your seven days!

Would it be OK to send out something that I made for a swap? For example, print out a copy of a (different) zine made for another swap?

sunnysidey 04/20/2010 #

As long as that zine is made during the seven days, it's fine!

I was just re-reading this as I'm typing my zine. I'm glad it doesn't have to be a mini-zine as I doubt that I would fit it all in! I'm really not good at being brief when it comes to writing!
